GU-11 Pretender vs Contender
« on: July 11, 2006, 11:08:22 PM »

This post is only based upon Mr. Pitchman viewing of GU-11 Match Play at various Tournaments and or Games.
It is only one opinion and doesn't discredit others opinions and or post on WPS.

This post and the others to follow do not list any Club or Team in ranking orders but rather lists them in (2) Categories
plus a comment when noted.                                                            If a Club or Team isn't included in a post it is only because of No Data is available at that time.

NO DATA means that Mr. Pitchman hasn't seen Match Play for that
GU-11 Team at the time of the post.

I say Pitchman is the pretender....   ...5 out of the top 7 teams from Mufasa's rankings have "no data".             Great idea, but it looks like you need to do a little more homework.  The one thing I do like is that you are basing your comments on games watched....not just box scores.

Great Dane, pay attention to what Pitchman said.  This is only for teams he has actually seen play.  Hard to do homework when the teams are all over the place.

I like Pitchman's idea of how he is doing it.  It is hard but that is ultimately the way to go.

Pay attention to what I said bigtoe.  My point was that even though it is a great idea, he might want to check out a few more of the top teams play before going to press...that's all.  And no, it's not that tough to find these teams playing, because most have already played in at least 2 tournaments as well as many played every weekend in the PDL.  But, since I'm such a nice guy, I'll save him some time...all the "no data" teams are contenders.  I've seen them all play.

Please explain - "Must work on team play" so I can tell my National A license coach what he should be working on with the girls so that they can become contenders!

This is a little overboard don't you think.  These are 9 and 10 year old girls were talking about.  :(

Pitchman, you need to find something better to do with your time!  ;)

Yeah, too funny....6 out of 8 teams he had "data" for, the comment was the same, i.e. "Must work on team play."  LMFAO!!!

Mufasa like this idea too. He'd add his 2 cents but like the Lizard he think he'd be filleted for it.

Will say that some of your "Pretender" picks are perhaps off. Maybe you will agree over time. Mufasa thinks some of those teams have gotten a lot better and will only improve and surely will become for real. OK just couldn’t help throwing my money in the pot

It's the way to go ONLY if pitchman has the background & experience in the game to be credible. Anything less and it's just so much #$@& thrown against the wall. Since he used only 3 different comments, I'd guess not. I wouldn't rush to give him credibility.

Tippy has hit the nail square on the head! With 9 and 10 year olds, technical development and learning how to play in small groups (twos, threes and fours) must take priority. Save the team tactics for later...when the kids are skilled enough to understand and apply them.
