But she still played  I heard marysville had control of the game, that WPS  got lucky this time.Do they know how to pass the ball??look like a kick and see how fast you go team. :| I call them a boot team when thats all you got thats all you can do. Some times you can win that way, but it will eat you up in the end,You must play as team.

yes, the conditions were rough for all the teams that played in the beaverton cup. i agree that this game could have gone either way. your girls are a well disciplined team and played their hearts out. some of those crosses just in front of our goal made my heart stop. i don't think we just "got lucky" though - if you remember we had a point blank shot that went off the cross bar earlier and the follow went wide right. i think our girls earned the win.

funny you call us a boot ball team i don't see us as that and it certainly not what our coaches espouse. i remember quite a few possession we had (as did you) in the penalty box. just because your outside backs can clear the ball to a forward doesn't mean you are a boot ball team. i don't recall our attack coming purely from a ball played over the top.

it turned out to be a very competitive tournament in my opinion. you marysville parents u11 & u13 are very nice on and off the field and your kids showed great sportsmanship. i'm glad you are playing in the pdl - it will be a lot better with you there.

YES it was very intentional and very obvious (as I said in the original post). Getting pulled down from behind is how people get hurt, and it should have been cause for AT LEAST a yellow card. Basically it was this player’s last-ditch effort to prevent a sure goal on a breakaway. Obviously the CP’s on the sidelines did not appreciate this intentional foul that could have caused serious injury, and they were pleading for at least a yellow card. A foul is one thing (bad calls happen all the time), but an obvious foul such as this that is done to prevent a score and one that could caused a potentially bad injury is something nobody should be allowed to get away with. I doubt anyone will disagree with that.

Hi Great Dane...wish I'd have remembered you were a CP of WPFC Black '95's or I'd have come over and said hi.

Just a quick comment about "obvious" fouls at this age...

I am used to watching my older DD play and sometimes I start thinking that these little GU11's are playing in a way that would deserve a yellow card...However, this weekend several times I "assumed" that my DD was taken out by an opposing player.  Not always the case...as in the consolation game against Marysville on Sunday when she had a breakaway and I assumed that when she ended up on the ground right inside the top of the box, that the little gal defending her  had pushed her...after the game I said so to her and she said "no Mom, she tried to kick the ball before I did in an attempt to pass back to her keeper....and I tripped over her foot!"

So much for us parents seeing it soooo clearly form the sidelines all the time!

And hey, next time come say hi!

RC- well said.  Sometimes I wonder if as CP's you take a step back and think logically, "Does a U11/U12 player really know how to manipulate her/his body to foul someone, kick hard enough with enough control to "tear" an ACL, etc."  The answer... probably NOT!  Not to say that there are not some players who don't foul on purpose, but some of you blow these innocent trips/fouls way out of proportion!!!

To Haole Boy:

Thanks for the compliments .. ditto to you.   Our dd plays with the U-11 Force team, and I of course saw the whole game.   I would NEVER call your team a "boot ball" team.  You definitely worked the ball to your speedy forwards, and that shot was one of the best shots I've seen from a U-11 girl (I'm talking about the one that hit the crossbar! ... I think the bar is still shaking!)  Isn't it funny how different CP's perceive games differently? I felt the majority of the game was played in the midfield where 2 evenly matched teams should be playing. Thought this was the BEST game of the tournament, and should have been the final. We look forward to playing the Royals soon. Now that we're part of the PDL, it might even be possible! Keep up the great work. Plus, it was fun talking to your parents/girls at the hotel and on the field.   Have a great season!

Haven't seen / read much of anything yet from the big cat.  As a matter fact, in his newest rankings WPFC Black 95 is ranked lower than the Force who they beat in the tournament (Force not making the finals and getting shut out in two games).  Go figure.  Was it that WPFC had zero subs (the only sub the team had was sick and couldn't play) for the game against the Force?  No, that can't be it, because that should make the win even more impressive.  Oh, could it be that WPFC had no guest players and instead just went with their own 12?  No, that can't be it, because that should make the win even more impressive.  Hmmmm.....this is a mystery that only big beard can solve.  Maybe Big Cat is just smart and did it this way to generate Bla Bla.  That's the only thing I can come up with.

My post was written in an attempt to encourage Mufasa into commenting on his reasoning behind his rankings.  In other posts I have been very complimentary of the Force team.  As a matter of fact, I echo HB's comments on how great their CP's and DD's are and how much fun it is to play this team.  ;)  They are very talented and we considered it a great victory on Saturday, even though it seems many in this forum don't seem to want to give those DD's the credit they deserve for winning the game.    It looks like we have to win an 11 aside game 4-1 before we're considered to be anything other than lucky.  In any case, you have chosen to insult the WPFC team and indirectly the coach, which is really unfortunate.  That's not what the bla bla is all about.  I will not even dignify your post with counter-points to those totally ridiculous remarks.  By the way, for your future reference, it's not "WPS"....it is WPFC.

GD:

See my previous post ... I believe we need to give credit where it is due.   WPFC was the better team that day, they won ... and they proved themselves the next day by beating the very team that beat Marysville that morning!    (So they were in fact the better team that weekend!)    Everyone on the Marysville sideline thought your team was great, and played a great game.   Not sure who Rockstar is, but ...    We look forward to playing you again in the near future, and remember we'll be GREEN (augh!) next time we meet  :D  Marysville Force (a.k.a. ESA)

Thanks Honeybucket, and it's nice to finally have someone give the WPFC girls a little credit, and it does not surprise me it's a Force CP!  We also think your team is great and your parents are quality CP's from what I've seen at the games - always very supportive.  It's always great to see that.  I too look forward to many matchups now that you're in the PDL.  It will be a lot of fun!!  Who knows what will happen next time these two teams meet!  Regardless, it will certainly be fun to watch....a lot of good matchups.

I like your Force colors, and green just doesn't do it for me.  Oh well, at least you got in the PDL!

Not too wise and not as old as you think, but there is an Interesting topic on the ussoccer.com website with "you make the call"--go there and notice the video under archives for pushing and see the comments and choices below--all calls are made age appropriate....

 Scenario
Blue #14 is chasing the ball which is rolling toward the touchline. #23 White is also chasing alongside Blue #14. Just as Blue reaches the ball, #23 makes contact in the back of #14 Blue pushing Blue over the ball and onto the ground over the touchline. What is the correct decision by the referee?

 Results
14.0%  This is minimal or trifling contact. Throw in to Blue.
75.0%  Foul for pushing by #23 White. Direct free kick to Blue.
2.0%  Impeding by Blue #14. Indirect free kick to White.
7.0%  Dangerous play, foul by White #23. Indirect free kick to Blue.
                                                                                              Reason
This is pushing by White #23. A direct free kick should be given to Blue. The kick is taken from where the referee believes the pushing occured.

 Explanation
This appears to be a careless foul. No caution is necessary for this single incident. Consideration should be given for the age and skill level of players involved in this type of incident when evaluating the difference between careless and reckless play.
