I think they just mix their teams up because I swear I have seen some of the girls who played at Starfire on the Red team. Maybe it was the Red team who played at Starfire. I guess we will never know, kinda like the Tootsie Roll lollipop.

The only way to distinguish them is when they both play in the same tournament.

hmmm.  I guess we'll find out if Westsound Drew == Westsound Red as they are in the Evergreen this weekend and playing the Skagit Storm 93 Red I think.

Westound wins 3-1 over Eugene and 2-1 over NWN (a great game to watch). NWN beat Skagit 2-0 and will play Eugene for what appears to be a spot in the semi-finals.

On the other side, Eastside beat Reign White 5-1 and Whatcome 5-1. Whatcome beat ESA 3-0 and a win today will put them in the semi-finals.

Semi finals look like Eastside vs. Skagit or NWN and Westsound vs. Whatcom depending on results.

 HOW - did Eastside defeat WFC Rangers 5-1?  Both are very skilled teams, but WFC appears to much better than that result indicates, any details.....please, pretty please..

I am shocked that you are shocked.

I don't think Whatcom has played enough games against teams of that calliber, but I think they are a very organized and skilled team. Eastside is strong through the middle and play a very technical game and had great transition, finding forwards making great runs and winning 50-50 balls. I don't know how Whatcom scored since it was in the first half.

Who knows, maybe it was that crazy commute through Everett that got them all fired up!  I know I was frazzled!

Rangers just had one of those days...we've all seen it.  Couldn't get anything going.  They are better than they played.

I believe that, but give credit where credit is due. 5-1 against a team many placed in their top ten is impressive.

What results has Whatcom had that put them above a team like Eastside, who has been consistently strong since U-11--up and down like most teams, but always a contender.  Who has Whatcom played that is really good (this is an honest question, not a slam)?

BTW--who is Eastside's new defender?  She is a great addition to that team--I haven't seen her before, but I've only seen EFC play once before this year so may have missed her.

I believe that Whatcom has played Snohomish United closely.  That is the only "high caliber" team that I know of.  I believe the defender actually belongs to Washington Premier and is just guest playing.  Eastside is really coming together in this tournament.

Wow, sounds shocking. I guess we will see it appears that Eastside and WFC are in the finals. I realize you feel Eastside is a nice skilled team, they are,  but WFC appears to have good size, skill, speed  and 3-4 outstanding players at key positions on the field.  Just no one really knows much about them yet, the rumor is that they have only played together for a few months.  Good luck to both teams

Eastside is playing this tournament without 3 of their center mids, according to a parent. Not bad.

Rangers Prevail!!!  - Soccergal asked you has Eastside played that deserved such respect, they payed Fury to a tie and a (1) goal loss and now deafeated  Eastside Red  to be Evergreen Champions.  Well done girls to come back and defeat Eastside in the finals just as I predicted.

I realize that this must be difficult for you, being from Snohomish and all. But you seem extremely overjoyed by this. Is it because you couldn't beat them?? Tough to take, huh. By the way, the score was 0-0 and the game went into pk's.

We stayed to watch a great game by two clubs. Whatcom probably owned the first half, but Eastside came back and had the second half, but both teams were so tired, it was bound to come down to penalty kicks.

Also, I was mistaken about Eastside missing 3 center midfielders. I guess they were missing one center back and two starting center midfielders (one has a broken arm, or wrist or something).  Thank you Eastside CP for clearing this up for me.

Sunburn--in response to soccergals questions, I think you mean that the Rangers played the Fury, not Eastside?? Maybe I'm confused.

Great job by Whatcom and Eastside.  Settling a game on PKs is so tough.  I heard from my friend this morning that the semi-final between NWN and Eastside was also settled by PKs!! Congrats also to NWN, Eastside and Rangers who played close games!

Seriously Sunburn, what is your issue? Two great teams played to a 0-0 tie. Looking at your posts, it is clear you are a Snohomish parent, but what the hell?  You are talking about 12 year old girls who played their hearts out and most likely have mutual respect for each other. It may be tough for you that you couldnt beat them, but why are you so giddy about this?  Sounds like sour grapes.

Congrats to Rangers!! Wow I can't remember the last time I've seen a team get SPANKED 5-1 then to come back and beat that same team in the final.I wonder if the Rangers will get some respect now other than from (Sunburn) ha ha ha! 94-out!

Evergreen Champions....RANGERS
« Reply #20 on: July 23, 2006, 08:16:48 PM »

The Rangers have only been together for almost 2 months...not long.   But in that time they have played 3 tournments 3 finals, 2 wins and 1 loss...not bad for beginners.  As for the teams they have played, not many in the top 10 but they have played Snoh. United twice once for a tie,and 1 loss on pk's, beaten the Storm, Westsound, and Eastside in pk's.  They may not have been together long, but they are for real! ;)

This benchwarmer (and it was warm today) saw that they are for real, just like Eastside, and Westsound and NWNationals. I always give credit where credit is due and congratulations to Whatcom. My dd's team did not make the finals but played have played both teams in the finals and found them to be for real.

I simply found it odd that the Snohomish United parent was so completely ecstatic about Whatcom beating Eastside in PK's.

You really can't say that one team is better than the other with a 0-0 tie & the game is decieded upon PK's in the extreme heat that they played in today.  Both teams deserved to win, and either one could have.  Maybe it would have made a difference if Eastside would have had all their players there & healthy.  You have to give credit to both teams...

BENCHWARMER- Not so fast, you must be confused we have friend on the team and frankly are very proud of her and her team mates for their efforts!!  That's it, all the team in the semi's were obviously strong, BUT it seems that one of the posts more or less disregarded WFC after the loss in bracket.  Give the champs their due, much derserved.

Dear Snohomish Parent, I gave Whatcom their due, they had a great tournament and ended up with a 0-0 tie with a team that beat them earlier. That is difficult to do and congrats to them.

It just seemed to bother you WAY too much.  Not sure why.

You are right, I don't have the trophy, I am a parent and didn't play the game. I think CP's sometimes forget that it isn't about them! I am a parent who proudly supported my daughter. She played a handfull of games, didn't make it to the finals but had a great experience.

Is it Monday  or what ? Why is everyone so edgy about the results over the weekend? CP's mention different clubs and affiliations that didn't even play??  From reading this topic and posts it actually seems to coincide with some previous comments about "new teams" and and surprises of the summer at GU-13.  WFC Rangers seem come out of nowhere and now are a pretty cool topic, am I missing something?  Congrats to all the girls this last weekend, way to battle the heat you are all winners!
