this tourney is a dooozy.  The pace of play and the ability of these Cali teams is nothing like you have seen in Washington.  The fields are manicured perfectly (a very fast track) and when you walk under the front gates you feel like something special. Good luck to all and bring a level of play back to Washington for all to enjoy.  ive and learn within soccer is really cool.

Surf Cup Results for all WA teams
« Reply #23 on: July 30, 2006, 01:31:47 AM »

I've put together table of results for the first day of play (two games each) for all Washington State teams.   (Someday I'll have to ask Squash or Dragon how to import an Excel table directly into a posting without losing formatting.  This method took WAY too long to make the columns line up correctly!)

Anyway, of Washington State's 12 teams playing at Surf Cup, three teams are in currently in a pretty good position to advance to Quarter Finals, as you need to finish first or second after tomorrow's games to continue on.

Current WA Leaders:

BU12 Eastside FC 94 Red (Strom) is currently in second place in their bracket (6 pts.).
GU13 Crossfire 93 (Schilperoort) is currently in first place in their bracket (17 pts.) and should advance.
GU14 Emerald City Green (Farrell) is currently in second place in their bracket (9 pts.)
BU14 Revolution (Sisneros) is in 3rd place but has 10 pts, and could advance if things line up correctly.

Surf Cup continues to provide some of the best competition around (and some would argue better competition than Regionals.)

Good luck to all our Washington State players.  Win or Lose, play with Heart and Fire and enjoy your experience in this strong tournament!

I somehow managed to leave out the GU15 Crossfire '91 team (formerly Crossfire McCormick, more recently Crossfire Hinton, and now I believe coached by Peter Hattrup.)

They finished 2nd in their bracket, and played Cal South Slammers FC this evening (July 30th) to a 1-1 tie in their Quarterfinal, and then went on to win it via kicks from the mark by a tally of 5:3   (see, those lengthy practices do pay dividends...)

They next play Cal North's Casa Boca team (Sacramento) tomorrow, Monday July 31st at 9 am in the Semi Final, and if they win that game, the GU15's will advance to the Final at 2 pm against the winner of the other Semi, either Real So Cal or SD Surf G15 White.

The GU13 Crossfire '93 Schilperoort team lost their quarterfinal this afternoon in a 1:0 heartbreaker to Cal North's Mustang Rampage (Danville, CA) so they will not have a chance to avenge last years defeat in the final against the Colorado Rush team, who they had hoped to meet again this year and instead come out on top.

The Rampage play Colorado rush in one semifinal tomorrow, and FC Barcelona (Cal South - Pasadena) faces off against Cal South's San Diego Surf G13 White.

The smart money (I'll bet you a Krispy Kreme doughnut) says to look for the Surf to take it all though - - through four games, they've outscored some tough opponents 13-1.

Washington State continues to improve its soccer play and exhibited some success at Surf Cup, as demonstrated by the number of WA teams getting into the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals rounds.

BU12 Eastside FC 94 Red defeated West Coast FC in their Quarterfinal (1:0) to make it to Semi Finals.  Eastside lost to FC Barcelona in the Semi by a score of 1:0.

GU14 Emerald City 92 Green beat Colorado Rush Nike by 1:0  their Quarter and advanced to Semis.  Emerald City lost to Dallas Sting Royal 93 by an identical score of 1:0.  (The Sting beat Slammers FC in OT, with a 1:0 final score.)

The GU13 Crossfire '93 Schilperoort team lost their quarterfinal 1:0 to Cal North's Mustang Rampage (Danville, CA) and did not get to Semis this year (Crossfire was 2005's 2nd place finisher at Surf Cup.)

BU14 Revolution 92 Sisneros finished third in their bracket and did not advance to Semis, but hopes to return next year!.

GU15 Crossfire Premier '91 made it the farthest of any Washington team getting all the way to the Final!  They first played to a tie against Slammers FC (Newport Beach, Cal-South) in their Quarterfinal, but finally won it on kicks from the mark (5:3).

Crossfire '91 beat the SD Surf G15 White in the Semi Final by a score of 2:1.  The Crossfire girls advanced to the Final match against Real So Cal (Thousand Oaks, Cal-South) but lost the final by a score of 2:0.

Way to go Crossfire, Eastside and Emerald City in representing Washington State so well!  Congrats again!!
