Somebody Pinch Me!!
« on: July 31, 2006, 11:54:57 AM »

This must be a dream!  I am actually sitting at my computer with no one looking over my shoulder asking when I'm going to be done so they can use it...

...or asking me where this or that is...

...or if they can do this or that...

...or if I can do this or that for them...

...or my personal favorite, "what's for dinner?"...

... or in the case of my oldest son, "what's for second dinner?"...

...as a matter of fact, I am in my house all by myself!  This is a dream come true!  And the none of the kids will be home until Wednesday!  I won't know what to do with all the time (not to mention the silence).  I don't even have to drive anyone anywhere for 2 whole days!

Now I just need to get caught up on what's going on in WPS land and life will be good... Wow, today I can read a whole post without getting interupted!  And I may even be able to reply to one or two!  I will know all by the end of the day!

Hubby already said he's bringing home some juicy steaks to throw on the grill!  Little known fact... Victory is BBQ Master!!  Need to have WPS BBQ and have him bring his slow cooked babyback ribs... or pulled pork... or just about anything he pulls off his Big Green Egg (look it up :P )!

Yes, dear, I know, BBQ and grill are not the same thing... you are Lord of BOTH! ;)

Wow, so many responses come to mind, I've got at least one to go with each smiley       ;)

... but I think it's safer to keep them all to myself and let everyone wonder what's going through my head.

ENJOY!!

Count me in on the samples.  How does one get time to practice barbecue and work with a soccer team at the same time?

true, southern barbeque is a lifelong obsession, you find the time if you are truly possessed by the fever. Soccer is a passion that can dominate your life, as is in our family. But there's always time to barbeque, it can be done overnight as for brisket and or hog's (butt). A day or two in marinade and/or rub, then just tending the fire every couple hours to keep the temp at 210-225. I've loaded my big old smoker in the truck while we pulled our RV to a distant tournament. I just check the fire between games. 24-28 hours for brisket, 18-22 hours for pork shoulders, 4-8 hours for ribs. It takes a while, but when you see the look on uninitiated folks faces when they get their first bite of real souther barbq, it's worth all the effort.

The only down side is that when your buddies want to go to Tony Romas and you do not want to go becuase you know the BBQ will not be done right.  Easy to become a BBQ snob.

Can I let you know our tourney schedule for the rest of the summer?  I really like brisket and pulled pork is especially good, but you can never go wrong with a little surf n turf.  I had brisket and crawfish/shrimp in east Texas that was to die for.

I do a crawfish etouffe' that will stop your heart. Crunchy, hot, deep fried, corn meal breaded catfish (redfish when I can get it) smothered in a gravy of the trinity (onions, green peppers and celery) with crawfish tails and their juice, mmmmmm-buddy, I'm gettin hungry just thinking of it. Oh yeah, deep fried dill pickles on the side,,,,,, YUM

hush puppies are an art form, crunchy, crispy on the outside, but light and fluffy on the inside. A little green onion, a liitle jalapeno and just the right mix of corn meal and flour. Fried at precisely the right temp, do it right and they're ambrosia, do it wrong and they make good weapons in the slingshot.
