Blastoff GU-11, tier A:

WPFC Black vs NWN Red, tie 2 - 2

NWN gave the River Road gals all and more than they wanted to see in this game.  Game went back and forth.  Was a 0-0 tie at the half, then WPFC Black going up 1-0 on a long powerful line drive kick through the middle.  NWN fought back and scored on a runaway drive down one side, then again off a corner kick.  The awesome WPFC Black forward made a great move passed the NWN defender and had a point black shot on goal.  The NWN keeper made a nice try for this low hard shot, but it hit the post and deflected into the net to tie the game.  The NWN team had some really nice shots on goal, but the agile WPFC keeper held her own and made some great saves.

WPFC Black looking to come out hungry tomorrow morning.

The best part of last evening was Crush and NWN families, friends  and coaches sharing a few glasses and slices at Mad Pizza.

Many of us (BC, Chipette, Hula, LLC, Kitkat to name a few) ended up on one of the indoor fields kicikin' the ball around 'til 10:30.  :D  :D

River City Cup

ESA defeated Columbia Basin United 5-2 in the finals.

CB United's goalie was keeping the score close.

Heard she played great. ESA's #10 scored a hat trick in

the finals.

Want to hear about bad fields-the field ESA

played on had a slope to it. It wasn't flat. Couldn't see

the other goal if you were by the other goal. Interesting

Ball would roll by itself without anybody touching it. LOL

Oh by the way -Who the heck is Columbia Basin United?

Headlines of the Federal Way Blastoff:  What the ___ is going on?

1) GU-11 playing games on fields that are half dirt infield.
2) Chalk lines in the "dirt" are not maintained - gone at this point.
3) One ref for the game (no linesmen)!
4) Refs are barely older than the U11 girls playing the game.

This tournament does not cost that much less than other bigger tournaments around the area, so what's up with all this?  Pay the $10 and get some ARs for the games, and maybe not allow so many teams in that you are forced to have games played on softball fields with one ref and no ARs.    This is our 4th tournament of the year, and we haven't seen anything like it.  I've heard many CPs at the fields making the same comments.

TimBlu 0 FCV Xplosion 0- very hard fought game. FCV's offense kept the ball on the TimBlu end for most of the game. TimBlu defense fought tough the whole game. Classic battle of two quality teams.

The TimBlu goalie was outstanding today against her former team.

TimBlu 3 Sherwood Shock 0- TimBlu did not let down after their morning game. Sherwood continues to get better and will catch someone sleeping this weekend.

Washington is 8-0-3 after the first two days of qualifiers.  Wash. has out scored Oregon. 45-3 in the GU-12 brackets.

Marauders beat Avalanche 3-1
Aanvallen beat Badgers 1-0 on a goal with three minutes to go.

Aanvallen and Marauders in the Finals at 3:00 PM.

Previous two times these teams met (including this tournament) they played to 0-0 ties.

Something will have to give unless it goes to Penalties this time.

Good luck to Marauders and GO GREEN!!!!

FC Aanvallen teams in Finals
GU-11 Bracket C 3:00 PM @ Saghalie #2
GU-12 Bracket A 3:00 PM @ Celebration #6
GU-13 Bracket C 11:00 AM @ Celebration #5
Not sure on this one but if the GU-15's made it they are in Bracket A 9:00 AM @ Celebration #6

Good luck to all the Aanvallen teams on Sunday.

FW Blastoff, GU-11, Tier A:

WPFC Black over Westsound, 6-3.  One of Westsound's goals was on a PK....cough, cough, cough....but how can you blame a 15 year old ref left out there by herself without the help of ARs. The Westsound girls fought hard through the whole game, and the keeper showed a lot of grit with relentless shots coming one after another from WPFC.  The talented River Road gals controlled the game from start to finish beginning with a 3-0 lead.

Championship of Tier A will be at high noon tomorrow...WPFC Black in a rematch against the NWN Red.  Looking forward to it!!  The Johnny Cash girls will be wearing Black tomorrow...so watch out!  LOL!

Also, I know that WPFC White has advanced to the Championship round tomorrow as well in Tier B.  What to go girls!!!

Here is what I know:

Bracket A finals is Marauders v Aanvallen
Bracket B finals is MV Strikers vs Celtics

Know nothing about braket C

Comments:  MV Strikers is my pick for the winner.  Good Team, great team work.  WPFC White played them this afternoon and although it was very evenly matched there were 2 shots that MV got in, and WPFC couldn't "buy a goal" but had plenty of opportunities.

Aanvallen scored 2 goals all tourney, but due to strong defense makes it to the finals,. Should win tomorrow.

GU11 FW Blastoff "B" Bracket and "D" Bra
« Reply #21 on: August 06, 2006, 12:59:07 AM »

CB United Navy   2        Federal Way Reign Black   0

FW keeper was tremendous.  Two great saves to keep the game close.

CB United Navy   3        Norpoint Spirit   1

Not much of a match.  Norpoint had one shot and converted it.  CB United missed numerous 1 v 1.  Norpoint keeper was very busy and made some great saves.

CB United Navy   1        WPFC  White   0

Uninspired game.  The game was meaningless as both teams already knew they were advancing to the final.  CB United's goal was a fluke.  Bad bounce over a spawled WPFC keeper.

Championship on Sunday:  CB United Navy  vs.  WPFC White

CB United White 3      Heartbreakers    1

The CB United "B" team played very well in their first game together.

CB United White  5+   FWU Cheetahz   1

Cheetahz were overmatched.  Poor bracketing.

CB United White  0     FC Badger  0

Badgers had the run of play, but no one could convert.

Championship on Sunday:  CB United White v. Heartbreakers

Echo previous commentary regarding the fields and the refs.  Fields are very poor.  1/4 of a field is the infield of a baseball diamond.  A second field is in horrible shape from overuse.  Third field is good, but none of the lines are visible (washed away because of sprinkers).  We had to "line" one field with cones to create touch lines.  Refs are 13/14/15, and have no ARs.  Asking an awful lot of kids.  Positive note:  parents and coaches have been on best behavior to refs after many poor calls.  Hopefully ARs for the championship games.

Great report CPO.  Let's throw in one more complaint about the fields...the GU-11 Tier A Championship game is now scheduled for field 3...I suppose the girls should be happy they won't have to play on a dirt baseball infield, but the goal is much smaller than the other two fields, i.e. at least 1-ft shorter and 3-ft narrower than the other two fields.  One would think the Tier A girls championship should play on field 2 which has the bigger goal and no dirt infield.  However, I believe Tier "D" got the luck of the draw on that deal.  Can anyone over there in Federal Way take a minute to at least line the fields in the morning?  Sheeesh.  I'm beginning to see why Reign Purple doesn't play in their own tournament.

Okay, now I'm really getting worked up....I looked at the on-line FW Blastoff score board and screw ups there too.  How can you report a 7-1 score (GU-11 WPFC Black over Crossfire) as 2-1???????????     Then the score of WPFC against Westsound was wrong as well..should have been 6-3, but was reported as 5-3.  I looked and other scores in other brackets are wrong as well. I believe the hand written board at the fields are correct, so maybe the web-master is at fault...who knows.  In the end I realize this won't matter, but a lot of people that can't make the games look at these on-line score boards to see how things went....and what good is it if you report a game as 2-1 when it was 7-1?  Just don't put them on-line if they are going to be screwed up. Frustrating.  Let's just hope the fields and refs (and/or lack there of) don't end up screwing up any of the championship games.  Let's also hope they'll at least use AR's for these final games....should be interesting.

I object!  CB United Navy, you are hereby BANNED from playing anymore tournaments at the "B" level.  Get your little feet up to "A" bracket where you belong.  GREAT JOB GIRLS!!!

Hey Big Dog :!:  It's been awhile since this dog has posted but you're right on the money. WPFC should have the top spot matching the Nationals 23 points but having a better GA had they scored the Crossfire game at 7-1 giving WPFC 9 not 8 points.

Yes, that field was a wreck. Our U-13 girls played for a trip to the finals and the field was 40 yards narrower and 20 yards shorter than a true field. IT changed the way the game was played, but our girls didnt make the adjustment soon enough and the other team played well.

As for the lines on the field - our referee just decided to have a "do over" when the other team goalie stepped outside the box, with the ball in her hands.  How sweet of her.

No tournament should use modified sized fields. How dissappointing after playing games on faboulous fields like Celebration Park.

I do not believe they scheduled any AR's for the U-11 at that field. The soccer referee self assign site was not accepting assignments for U-11 at Sacajawea.

Quote from: "goldentoe"

Good luck to all the Aanvallen teams on Sunday.

and this time the girls in GREEN are going to win! And their name ISN'T Harbor!
