Ninja's Top 10 G-U11
« on: August 04, 2006, 12:00:00 PM »

Everyone has their own opinion on who is ranked where, my rankings are based on team strength and talent when playing 9v9.
During tournament time everyone has been playing 11v11 with key players missing or playing with no subs, hats off to all the girls playing with heart and fire:

#1 I have a hard time with this one but speed and strength prevails and I have two teams tied for first- AYSA Strikers with speedy forwards and a dominent defense and FCV Courage with plenty of speed and talent.

#3 WPFC Black- This team has one of the strongest forwards at U11 and a tuff defense to go with it. Congrats on Beaverton Cup Championship

#4 Tied at #4 are Force '95 and ECFC Green Both well rounded teams with strong players and good coaching.

#6 3 Rivers- A team loaded with talent and very athletic girls and a very good coach to teach them the ropes, this is a team to watch, once they learn the possesion game they'll be a well rounded team.Congrats on Portland Cup Championship

#7 EFC Red- This team depends on their strength which is speed of play catching teams off gaurd. (Defense wins championships) Congrats on Raineer Cup Championship

#8 X-Fire Thomas- This team is still searching for themselves and looks to have found themselves at 11v11 but at 9v9 the team is still growing. This team has a few girls with U11 experience that carries the team. Congrats on X-fire Tourny Championship

#9 FC Crush- A team to watch- has an extremely talented forward and strength in mid and defense. Size and strenght may hurt this team in big games. Congrats on Lake Oswego Nike Cup Championship

#10 FWU Reign Purple- A well rounded team that is improving each week but would like to see them paly in bigger tournaments.

Bubble teams- Cascade Cup Champions Timbers Navy,NWN Red, CB United, X-Fire Smetzer and Timbers Royal.

Remember this is all for fun and just my opinions after watching several summer tournaments, this season will look completely different when playing 9v9. :D  :D

Ninja-Great job, I like your bla... bla....  with each team.  I think all the CPs can see that other CPs are very generous with their praise of so many teams not their own (except for GD of course).

Keep doing your rankings.  The kids love it, and it makes the CPs feel like their thousands of $$$ are buying something (what I'm not sure, but something nevertheless).

Good list. Hard to put those top teams in order.

Interesting that after so many watch so many games at different tournaments that everyone's list has same teams at the top just different ordering

We still need someone to order the teams using the "coin-flip" method. :D

This team did not allow a goal in the crossfire tournament, not bad from a defensive standpoint. This team will usually be at a disadvantage if a game goes to PKs as they always use a field player in goal. In addition every player gets their chance in goal, like it or not. I must tip my hat to the 3-rivers goalie who had my vote for their MVP, she played very well. The first time she YELLED for the ball it scared me so bad I almost peed my pants  !

EFC #7 :?  vs Auburn Strikers =EFC  goalie  touched the ball one time and slept the rest of the game. It was one of those where you shoot 12 times and nothing is going in, bad luck I guess...

Ninja, I like that you guys put these lists together, it gives us/me something to talk about. Heck if it wasn't for the polls I might not post at all (except for when the old black dane starts howlin') Anyway my next question is how does Auburn go 1-1-1 at crossfire, lose to a "B" team, not get out of bracket play and end up tied for #1 on your list?

Best regards,

Just cuz they "B" team don't mean they not as good as "A" teams  keep that in mind sa

You sure get touchy when that "B" team gets mentioned. I also found it interesting that you were at the 8am game with that "B" team vs. EFC. As I mentioned before the only people that see 8am games are people that have DDs playing...Hummmmm makes me wonder if you might have a cub on that team. Anyway I digress, my point is that Auburn lost 1, won 1, and tied the last game they played, did not emerge from their bracket and ends up #1 on a poll, am I the only one here who finds that odd?

I put my list together for 9v9 not 11v11 some teams will have an edge on the field with 9 aside wher 11 aside hurts them. The strikers have one of the toughest defenders at u-11 but when they play 11 aside she isn't able to command the field, when she plays 9 aside this team is almost impossible to score on.

I CONSISTENTLY give praise to other teams, again you must actually READ the posts from start to finish.  If you want an example, check my latest post to your rankings, where I talk about how good ECFC is, and praise all the top teams for their accomplishments.  Or maybe read the posts I made about Marysville in the past, on how good they are.  I could go on, but I won't.  Maybe you have a reading disorder or something.  Report the facts rocky.

SA, 12 shots on goal and couldn't get it in, and it was just bad luck? Maybe...part of the reason there was a lack of goals had do with the work of the Strikers' defense.

Also, interesting that you say the EFC goalie slept most of the game.  Strikers '95 strikers and midfielders took over 30 shots on goal in 3 games that weekend.  So, I guess they had bad luck, too?

Did that include warm ups? Just kidding, that does sound unlucky.

I'm sure they did take plenty of shots over the weekend as they are a fine team, however I recall the EFC goalie handeling (picking up) the ball either one or two times during the coarse of the EFC vs Auburn game, this was a one sided game. please correct me if I am wrong. As long as we are talking I will say that in my opinion any team that goes 1-1-1 in a tournament and does not get out of it's bracket probably should not be on top of sombodys list if the person putting the list together wishes to be taken seriously by the people that read the list. For all I know this is a list of Ninja's favorite teams in order.

SA,

My issue with your original statement is that you insinuated that your team was unlucky.  I'm not completely sure it had to do with luck.  It disregards the fact that the Strikers played a pretty good defensive game.  They've played a few other great games similar to that one.  Like the one against FCV @ the RC.

And...the fact that the team went 1:1:1 in the tourny gave the girls experience to grow on.  In the end, Striker's CPs are glad that people on this forum think the team is fun team to watch, whether they're in the #1 spot or the #10 spot.  Ninja, thanks for your support!

Kickin, I'm not trying to bash yours or any one's team and I'm truly sorry if I insulted you as it was not my intent. I do like to ask questions about the polls as I think sometimes emotion plays into where the teams are positioned on these lists. Let me ask you this, do you think after the Strikers performance last weekend that they belong at the top of a list?
