As far as captains go my dd's team has yet to choose one. I'm thinking they are waiting for season to start. As far as selection goes I would think it would be the player that shows the most confidence in herself and to the team.
That's the usual idea that the captains role goes to the "most' deserving player. On the opposing side of the field I support this, as it helps our team win if the role doesn't add to team chemistry.
When my DD was in a mid-fielders/forward position, I said don't accept a captains role if offered. Don't make this mistake. It goes to defenders otherwise the team is cursed. I truly believe it helps the team when a defender is captain because a possible curse was lifted.
My DD had a coach that at a team meeting said he picks the captain out of defense and he wanted the team to know this. When he picks the player to be captain out of defense, that player is to decline the role and tell him which other player out of defense should be captain. That way the captain role goes to the team and not a player. I thought that pretty smart at the time.
Therefore to all the teams we play: "Please make your forwards captains." It's a curse before you step on the field. I'm sure they are most deserving and I truly support your teams giving it to the most deserving forward or mid-fielder. A great idea.
HUH??? WOW!!!!
