This is for all the parents.  I will do another poll for the kids afterwards to see if there is a difference.

Who would I rather have my DD play for?
« Reply #1 on: October 21, 2005, 11:23:07 AM »

Great question. What comes to my mind first, is having my DD play for a coach that is supportive, positive , a great teacher, and makes sure that the the girls have fun...with that said, I wouldn't mind if my DD had 15 min of playing time on a team that was successful in winning, because it's not any fun to struggle with the emotional downer of losses...My DD happens to have this type of coaching and team this year and I feel very fortunate...As long as she continues to grow and learn and have fun, 15 min of playing time is no big deal for me.

My DD just loves the game, even loves practice

She would be happy anywhere, win or lose, as long as she gets to play.  We have played for teams on either end of the standings and her big thing 30 seconds after the game is "Where are we going for lunch?"

Good question!
When older DD tried out for Green team ( and other teams)  this past year, we asked her what she would go for. She wants to PLAY not SIT.
Watching soccer has been fun even if my DD's aren't playing, but its more fun when they ARE playing. LOL

B. Jr., My DD had  a similar choice.  She was on a U-11 "B" teams last year, and played nearly every minute.  This spring she tried out for both U-11 and U-12.  The U-12 "A" coach told her she had what it takes to make the "A" team, but she would be more of a role player than she was on the "B" team last year.  Her U-11 coach, told her she would be one of the foundations of the U-11 team.

The decision was left up to her.  She chose the U-11's and is happy she did.  Mom and dad are happy too! :D
