Everything is new for the Seattle University men's soccer program. New coach, new assistant coaches, new players — even a new stadium.

For a team used to winning, that might not be a good thing. But new coach Brad Agoos says don't worry. The days of national and conference championships are far from over at Seattle U.

"There's a new look here, for sure," said Agoos. "But there is such a good, winning tradition here."

Seattle U. won the Great Northwest Conference championship last season, and in 2004 won the NCAA Division II championship. But a few dark clouds surfaced on the horizon — namely with former coach Peter Fewing resigning after 18 years allegedly because of disagreements with school administrators.

Agoos, 35, who arrived from North Carolina-Charlotte, thinks the Redhawks will be OK.

"It was a tough situation, but we're trying to put it all behind us," said Agoos. "We have a new staff and a good group back from last year. We'll move forward with what we have and see what happens."

SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle University head men's soccer coach Brad Agoos has named Jason Farrell, Anthony Sardon, and Andy Klubberud as assistant coaches for the Redhawks program.

"We're extremely fortunate to have a group of quality people like these three coaches come join the program," Agoos said. "It's an excellent blend of tradition and experience, with a former player, the brother of an alumnus, and a fixture of the Seattle soccer community coming aboard."

Farrell has been a mainstay in the Seattle soccer scene for many years, starting his career in the Seattle Youth Soccer Association. Farrell was named Athlete of the Year at Seattle Pacific University in 1991 and 1992. He helped the Seattle Sounders win back-to-back A-League Championships in 1995 and 1996 before being drafted in the second round of the 1997 MLS supplemental draft by the Columbus Crew.

From 1997-2000, Farrell notched 11 goals and 17 assists in 98 games for the Crew. He then returned to the Sounders, helping them win another championship in 2004 by notching three goals and two assists as a center midfielder. He retired as a player but stayed on as an assistant coach in the 2005 season. Farrell was named to the Seattle Times "All-Century" Team in 1999 and is currently coaching two youth teams with Emerald City FC.

How many of their players left Seattle U after this decision last year and how is their fundraising for their stadium going or did it die?  Haven't heard much in the news since last fall.

Stadium is almost complete! The Bermuda grass from the Real Madrid match was donated to be the new pitch!
