U11 roster size
« on: August 29, 2006, 09:27:05 PM »

Can anyone explain the logic used in changing the U11 to a 9 vs. 9 format for this season while the state cup remains 11 vs. 11? Does this not leave the Washington teams at a disadvantage compared to teams that may be located say near a bordering state that may keep their rosters at 11? Also will those who have carried 12-13 players for their 9 v 9 season, have to look at bringing on another player to compete in state cup 11 man roster. If there is any benefit from these decisions? I would like to be enlightened. Sorry if this has been discussed previously.

Is state cup really still 11v11?  If so that is absolutely ridiculous.     Are you telling me districts mandate 9v9, but the state didn't agree?  I really hope you are mistaken.

I just checked the WSYSA site and the coaches handbook and it talks about roster sizes and 9 v 9.  Aslo listed is the explanations on the State tournaments in which no special inclusion to change to 11 v 11 is stated.

Unless someone can direct us in the right direction.  I would be curious as well makes no sense whatsoever to do that.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if the state and districts are not on the same page.

This issue came up in a discussion over the weekend. I don’t guarantee that the information is correct, however more than one person involved in the conversation agreed this was the case. It was all news to me and I found it difficult to believe.

Nothing would surprise me.

The question would be then why end the fall season so early forcing some teams to play a Sat/Sun.  HMMMM!  interesting indeed.

Is It True? 8v8?
« Reply #6 on: August 30, 2006, 12:55:26 AM »

Sorry to highjack this thread but something somewhat related .... :?:

Is it true that both U-11 and U-12 are going to 8v8 next year? And roster size will go from 14 to 13? And this is a National decision to mirror Europe (FIFA)? :?
