The great thing about the younger kids is that they 9-11.  One day they show up and look like the team to beat and the next day they look like swiss cheese.

It will be interesting to see how the girls handle the Sat/Sun deal.  It is sometimes hard to get up for two games like this especially if you have to drive north/south on Sat and have a home game on Sun.  I think the optimal situation is if you have home-home or away-away.

Looking back at it, I stand corrected, at least in Comm. Cup with as many as six teams per bracket.    Challenge won't be needed to play Sat/Sun.

Last years Comm Cup played only Saturdays for U-14, so I am going to assume that they will do it again. I think that the Sunday part of it is for the U-15 age group and up

You also know when you assume right??

According to the prelim schedule the State wants the prelim games done by 1/21 or 1/28, 3 to 4 weeks.  There are 6 teams in a bracket.

Hmmm...very interesting...the Group with only three teams (Group A) gets a bye to the quarterfinals. How much sense does that make? I'll bet WPFC Black (or Timbers or EFC White  ;) )would prefer to have the games....Too bad the winner of Group (of Death) B doesn't get the bye...they'll have earned it.

Dragon hated that last year.  Think teams all want to play equal games...

But sad ta say, never works out that way :?

It doesn't, but it ain't rocket science to figure out that if you have to randomly pick 2 teams for a bye to the quarters, maybe - just maybe - it at least ought to come from a group of 4 instead of the one group of 3. My older DDs team had that last year, and they would much rather have had the chance to play the games.

agree most teams would rather play the extra game

Now that D think of it though, didn't both Crossfire Porter and EFC Red have a bye last year at U11...mmmmmmm

Might start ya to thinking that the bye is a good thing ;)

Generally speaking, you will always find the #1 seed in the smaller bracket--thus getting a bye into the further rounds.  Has been my experience over the years.

I dunno. They say this is a random draw and I believe it. Clearly no seeding going on.

I do, however, like how Brat's gone out on a limb and picked a 1-13 team to win Group G.

Actually, I didn't even go by the record in this case. I didn't look at then when I did my predictions ( obviously!) but went by name recognition. Besides I LOVE the underdogs!
