Don't forget ESA/Force as still having a shot. They got hosed by the tournament directors, but they're still a very good team and could easily be a final four team if they get through.

The Elite 8 can change with a breakaway goal, a goalie slip, a missed penalty or a poooor judgement call (never happens), only 5 teams are gauranteed a spot in the elimination round. So hope every girl out there plays with heart and fire and most important has fun :D

This is what I have figured out so far, thought others would like to see this also. :D

Division A
1st and 2nd up for grabs

WPFC Black- Advances to next round.

Timbers Navy- A win or tie advances the Timbers to next round.

EFC White- Must win to advance.

Division B
1st and 2nd up for grabs

FCV Courage- Scoring 1 goal, a win, or a tie advances FCV to next round.

FWU Reign Purple- Must win scoring at least 2 goals with a shut out and a CB United loss or tie with less than 2 goals.

CB United- A win or a tie scoring 3 goals and an FCV loss advances them to the next round.

EFC Red- A win, or a tie with FWU Reign loss or tie will advance them to the next round.

Division C
1st and 2nd up for grabs

Sorry couldn't finish this group due to X-Fire's game being rescheduled. :?

Division D
1st and 2nd up for grabs

Timbers Royal- With a win or a tie they can finish 3rd.

Dos White- With a win they can finish 3rd.

3-Rivers Rage- Advances to next round and a win or tie gives them first in the group.

SSSFC Crush- Advances to next round and with a win gives them first in the group.

Division E
1st and 2nd up for grabs

Another group which can't be finished due to X-Fires game being rescheduled.  :?

Division F
1st and 2nd up for grabs

Snohomish United Strikers- A win or tie they advance to next round.

Cascade Select Strikers- Must win to advance.

Westsound FC- Advances to next round.

Division G
1st and 2nd up for grabs

NWN Red- A win and ESA tie or loss;  A NWN tie and an ESA loss will advance NWN to next round.

FC Mulkiteo Angels- An 8 point win and an ESA loss being shutout and they will advance to next round.

ECFC Green- Advances to next round and with a win, a tie, or scoring 1 goal they take 1st in group.

ESA/Force- A win; A tie with NWN loss; Scoring 3 goals and a NWN loss advances them to next round. With a 10 point win against ECFC they could finish 1st in group.

5 teams clinching a birth into the elimination round after week 2 of preliminary rounds.

Advancing to next round means advancing to the Elimination Bracket play, sorry I couldn't finish Divisions C and E.

Alot of oppurtunities out there hope you are one of them. 8)

Well, there were a fair number of people that were in doubt how well the PDL teams would do when state cup time came around.  There were those that felt PDL just meant you had an over paid doc that added no value.  I just wanted to point out the PDL-A teams at U-11 are proving to be a tough bunch when it comes to performance on the field as well.

Think U11 is the worst age group to point this out GD.  Most of the PDL A teams are big clubs where most of the young studs from rec teams go to anyway ;)

Now take the U11s and see how they do at U13...that will be the TRUE indicator

I don't think it will take me another two years to see there's a benefit in playing tougher competition during the year.  However, I'd like to see the PDL matchups increased somewhat for variety purposes (for example U11 PDL-A playing against PDL-C teams as well).

So, yes I think those in the PDL will most likely benefit, while those teams that are not will likely lose players to those teams that are in the PDL.  If so, it will create an even heavier shift of talent towards the larger clubs than there already is.  Is this a good thing?  Well, I suppose it depends on who you are and what perspective you're looking at it from.  I'm not sure how I lean on this issue other than it would be nice to figure out a way to get all players and teams of similar talent playing against each other more consistently, with some opportunity (maybe at tournaments) to go up against whomever you desire.  With that said, it’s probably best for people like me with limited knowledge of the sport to simply sit back and let people smarter than I figure these things out.  So, I'll end this by saying, "GO PDL-A GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!....GREAT JOB SO FAR!!!!"

Guess my point was if someone asked D to predict a final four at the end of the year fo da new 95's, D would of said; WPFC, Crossfire, EFC, and NWN...without regard to where they were gonna play or whom.  Just in the past this clubs have showed to have strong U11 teams ;)   After summer tournaments, would have added ECFC, FCV, ESA to the mix along with maybe one or two others.

Think the PDL could work out fine, D's goal would be to funnell all the best players to one or two teams by the age of U16 (which is kinda what the PDL will do maybe), so we can compete at a National level and be successful!

May be two teams, or five; never know.  What D does understand though is winning brings kids to your club, and so do promises of great things to come.  So regardless of PDL or not, the "rich will get richer, etc etc)   D not the only one who's knows this, the DOC's are quite aware of it too :P

Couldn't we just call it Dist. III GT, I think that is how it worked prior to The PDL   ;)

Not to pick nits, but that can't happen because assuming they both hold serve, B1 (Vancouver or Eastside) plays C1 (Crossfire) in the quarters....

I think the cream would have a better chance of rising to the top if the field conditions were not so poor. Many canceled practices and conditioning becomes harder to maintain. It is great to see the individual players intensity level rise come game time for this tournament. They are growing up as we watch.

That's what makes NW soccer wacky right?  Hopefully someday money will be there, so that nicer fields will be available to all.  But, until then, it makes the cup interesting.  I do think the majority of teams are in the same boat (w/ canceled practices, and poor playing fields for mid-week practices), so I feel the teams w/ the best odds of winning, will still rise to the top.  But, trust me, I feel your pain.

I still don't understand how playing on a snow cover field in Eastern Washington (Moses Lake or Wenatchee) makes any sense for the quality of the game or safety for the teams.  The fields are not field turf, so you are guranteed either frozen grass or snow for upcoming games.  I know it goes both ways, but it seems that a quality field makes more sense for both teams to at least play on a turf field at this time of the year.  I know most games are on field turf at this time of the year.  The weather forecast has it pegged out at 30 degrees for the weekend.

Final 8
« Reply #21 on: January 18, 2007, 04:05:45 PM »

Great Dane, you better hope it can happen; you got a good chance of having the first shot at knocking out ECFC.  The way I see it, Timber Navy knows exactly what they need to do to get a next round bye and go strait to the quarterfinals... beat EFC White 3-0.  That sends WPFC up to Seattle to play ECFC in the elimination round.

EFC Red might not get there either.  They have to go to CB United and not get beat.  CB might not score much but they don't give up any either and, finally, they get to sleep at home and get up and play. Should EFC Red win there they still have to beat FC Alliance to get to the final eight.

And, FCV might not get by Crush.  No other U11 team in the state is more practiced at traveling and playing than Crush. They even get a practice trip to 3-Rivers to prepare for FCV in a loser out game. The pressure will be on FCV.

Snohomish Strikers are in the same boat as Timber Navy; they control their own destiny and Westsound can't do anything but watch. They need to beat Cascade Select 3-0.  Neither one will get by Cross-Thomas in the elimination game and Snohomish knows it.

Anyway, I'll take a guess at the final 8 (and it's just a guess):
    Timbers Navy vs NWN
    Crush vs Cross-Thomas
    Snohomish vs ECFC
    3-Rivers  vs FC Alliance

OK...

If bracket play ended today here who Mufasa believe would be in final four

ESA Force - Mufasa think they'd match up with WPFC in quarters. Mufasa don't think these two teams ever meet before but seen'em both and Force have a slightly stronger midfield so he'd go with Force in a close one. Dearest Great Danish, Mufasa just base what he think on what he see. This no mean he hate JC girls

FCV Courage - Mufasa think they'd match up with Crossfire in quarters. Mufasa think iffin the Couv gals can knock off EFC they can knock off Crossfire JDog. How??? With a solid D and a strong counter attack. Sumtin this team been showing their opponents all year.

ECFC - Mufasa think they'd match up with Westsound in quarters. Ball can bounce funny but not that funny. This would be a high scoring affair... Mufasa think like 5-3 but the Darbster and Big 8 would be too much for Kitsap ta handle.

EFC Red - Mufasa think they'd match up with 3 Rivers in quarters. Mufasa love the Rage, Rage against the dying of the light side but think EFC would make most of their possessions on the attacking end and dominate the match.

Wow... What a final four that would be...

Iffin that happen it make Timbs first side to put up a 3 spot on one of the best Ds in the PDL. Not sayin Navy can't getter done just no one has yet

Go back and take look see at their GA for season. Impressive...

Having control over your destiny and making it happen are two different things. Beating any team 3-0 is a tall order, and my bet is those talented Eastside gals will post at least one on the board.  Remember, if Eastside wins, they advance....they have some reason to play their best too.  So, I'm still hoping we'll meet ECFC in the Championship in Silverdale!

See big cat...you have no clue!       FYI...WPFC played the Force in the Beaverton tournament in 110-degree weather with no substitutes.  Black won the game 1 - 0.  I think it's more likely that we'll see the NWN in the quarters from what I see and likely game results of this weekend.  We'll see how it sorts out.

The way I see it, Timber Navy knows exactly what they need to do to get a next round bye and go strait to the quarterfinals... beat EFC White 3-0.

Iffin that happen it make Timbs first side to put up a 3 spot on one of the best Ds in the PDL. Not sayin Navy can't getter done just no one has yet

Go back and take look see at their GA for season. Impressive...

Mufasa right...Eastside White gave up only 2 goals in 12 games in the fall league.  Now you're thinking they'll give up 3 goals in one game?  A lot to ask of that talented little team from down south.  I am so curious how this one will sort out, I'd love to come watch.  Anyone know the place, time, etc. of this game??????

I think everyone is overlooking FC Alliance.
Last years U-11 Challenge Cup Champions came from U-12 GP, which was X-Fire, maybe playing up is an advantage and FCA may surprise us all to the finals.

Mufasa, I'll admit I never saw either team play but... not so fast with the top D...
EFC White gave up 30 goals in 12 games in the PDL-B to everyone else's "B" teams.  They gave up 3 goals to Shadow White, 4 & 3 to ECFC White, 4 to NWN Blue, 3 to WPFC White, and 6 to Cross-Leeming in various league games.

I'd also venture to say that most good, individual goal scorers made their "A" teams in PDL clubs.  That little skill stands out at tryouts. So EFC White didn't face those type players in the PDL "B" league.

Is Timbers Navy their "B" team?  I'm not familiar with Timber colors. Did they stack their Navy team with two or three Royal players for a run at the Challenge Cup? I have no idea.

Regardless, if I'm with Timber Navy, I'm pumped because WPFC Black left the door open. In a tournament like this, this is a very good position to be in.
