Very interesting news on the new Evergreen club.   Although the State Cup in in progress some spill-out on what the new configuration of the club will look like.

Evergreen will be competing with NWN for talent next year.  The battle is about who owns the north-end as the top organization.

The four corners in the Puget Sound area looks like this today:
The south - WPFC.  The east - Crossfire.  The west - Emerald City.  The north - NWN.  Inside this geography are very good clubs like Eastside, Snohomish, Federal Way etc.   It appears Evergreen is attempting to take the north and make NWN a good club squeezed between Emerald City and themselves.

NWN is in best location of all (Lynnwood) Right at the merging of I-5 and I-405. Its not too far to draw ECFC or Badger players, FCA and Silverlake is 10 minutes away.Mukilteo and Esa players 15 minutes to the north. Snohomish isnt out of the question either because you are coming in opposite of traffic.Marysville, now that might be a stretch in my opinion. Big bonus for NWN G14 next year is that EUGENE POUBLON will be the coach! Nuff said!!!

You  make good points.   I don't think the GU13/GU14 age group will decide this but overall, I see Evergreen making a push as a club and its location a little North means Marysville/Snohomish become areas to draw from.  It is difficult to go from Marysville to the King County Line.  Also Evergreen is lining up with the European Club Celtic.  All indications is they want to be taken serous.   The geography may help Evergreen draw players of top quality.  They just need to make a solid repuation and they seem to be trying to do that.

But this is all a little off topic and part of the buzz of next year and State Cup is underway.

It gets back to my point that a family should look at a team based on their success, coaching, program and whether their daughter fits with the team. Doesn't matter if it is Evergreen, Snohomish, NWN, Mukilteo etc because the strength at this level has never been with Freedom or Evergreen, it has been in the Fury & Blast. NWN has been there, but too many coaching changes there. Now  Evergreen can't seem to get their coaching straight because of the politics Silver Lake has brought and that may ruin them.

Just4kicks - Well said my friend!! Speak the truth, that tends to further the discussion of the previously discussed ESA team next year.  ESA's website lists (3) different coaches for the GU-14 age group, (1) with a A LICENSE then the S.L. coach and the current gu-13 coach.  What are they thinkin? Who's the real "A" coach, apparently one clearly stand out from the others, who knows.

Kind of makes you question what ESA as a club is thinkin' atleast at this age group, whatever.

I totally agree with you Shinedown!!  What is ESA thinking about!!  The S.L. Coach is coming over with a well known trainer (some love him, some hate him).  Won't it be great for the parents that follow the Freedom Coach to have to pay for both the Coach & a trainer.  I certainly would want my paid Coach to be qualified to train the team rather than paying extra for a full time trainer.  Just my opinion.  Why would ESA list the Freedom Coach ahead of the other candidate that looks like he has more qualifications??  It seems a little backwards - ESA would benefit themselves if they got that switched around.

Also heard very strong vibes that the core group of Marysville girls are heading down to ESA to try out for the Coach Mark Boyes who sits holding an A license and has a very impressive background.  I hope other strong players look at this Coach as well.  If it was me I would be heading to Coach Boyes, especially when you see those Marysville girls come down to tryouts.  Look back at State League and see where Marysville Force placed vs. Freedom.  Which team would you like your DD to play for  :?:

It's nice that those ESA guest players had a place to play in State Cup since their team didn't participate.  If they are impact players I hope they research their options as to which Coach to tryout for.  My bet is on the Force girls ending up in a better situation than the Freedom girls.  Can't wait to see how tryouts work and see the end results.  Goodluck at tryouts to all GU-14 players :!:  :!:  :!:

Again, no way would I take my dd to Evergreens Freedom team. We may try the B team, Snohomish and Mukilteo. NWN to pricey for us, although I hear Evergreen may be pricey as well, so that leaves Snohomish & Mukiteo for us and maybe Alliance. If ?huh is reading this, money is and always will be a concern for us, unless you want to pay for my dd. Why pay thousands at a club, when you can get a better product for less money at another club

Wow did this thread get off topic or what????  In reading all that has been written thus far.  I truly believe that the bottom line is

1.  where is the club in location to your home?

2.  what level of play is your son or daughter at?

DD's criteria list in choosing what team she wanted to play for:
1. Coach
2. Coach
3. Coach
Our criteria in deciding whether to OK it:
1. Coach
2. Coach
3. # of and which tournaments planned
(Snohomish went on I think 9 tournaments-too many for our own personal beliefs and yearly team expense exceeded other clubs-even NWN)
4. Location/Commute
We did end up with a further commute because of numbers 1,2,3.  So far it seems like all clubs have troubles in one way or another.  It's just deciding whose troubles will impact your DK the least.  DD isn't invested as much with club name as with her coach, who is the biggest influence on their attitude and development over the year.  That's what we spend the most time on, getting a read on the coach.

Same thing we did last time Humble - find another good one! :D  Nice additions to the list.  Teammates is a harder one for DD to get a read on right away.  At tryouts everyone's pretty focused.  But it's definitely a huge factor at seasons end.  A great group really pulls you to stay and I bet a group thats not gelled well can make it easier to let go.  And I have to admit it's way easier as a parent to celebrate than to console!  It's a tough time of year, changes and decisions a comin whether we all want em or not :? ....

Nice criteria.   Good coaching is of course important.  Teammates can make your team fun and winning.   And lots of  games is great.

Yet still you can have a losing squad.  Some players win and some players always come up losers in select soccer with lots of excuses.  If the program you are joining has a couple of  years of  losing but the players look good, there is something deeper going on.   Might be that the heart of the team can't finish.
