FOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE
« on: November 17, 2005, 10:34:34 AM »

OK-- All you U11 CP's-- Let's get the kids involved in the community!

FC Royals 94 Blue CP's and DD's would like to Challenge all the other teams to see how many cans and boxes of Food you can collect for NW Harvest or any other local Food Bank at your home game this weekend!  This year donations for food and clothing have dropped and we feel as a SOCCER COMMUNITY we can make a difference!

The only prize is the knowledge that each girl/ parent stepped out and did a good deed for someone else!

We all know there are some good games going on this weekend, so in addition to the competition on the field, let's work together off the field and see what we can do!

We are working with EFC Red on collecting items, and the RRG's are going out in their neighborhoods to see what they can collect!

Let's report back not just on the score, but on the Canned Food/ Box count as well!  If you need help getting the items anywhere, just send me a PM and we can get it done!

This is a great idea.
Last year from Thanksgiving to Dec. 23rd, Lollipop and Thenry14 held a food drive at our home. (We decorate Griswold style for the holidays and had a collection bin). We collected a ton of food for Northwest Harvest.  They won a WSYSA contest and got an instabench which we donated to Thenrys team.
It was a great experience for the kids. We delivered it on Dec. 23rd. The kids were happy knowing they made a difference in others lives.

You U-11 CP and little girls are SOOO lame!  There is no way you can collect more than us wonderful U-12 CP and much bigger and better U-12 girls!  You keep track of how much your side gets and I will keep track of the truck loads the u-12's get!

Come on U-12's let show these little kids who is better!

Bring em on :!:  :!:  :!:  You know we love a challenge. Heck we have been challenged all season.  :?  :?  :? Let's make a real go of this all teams. This is the time of year that we all should be Thankful for what we have and what we will receive because there truly are those less fortunate than us out there. If you do not believe me try working a Thanksgiving at a Homeless Shelter like we did a few years ago so that our kids could really see first hand what it means to go without. That experience was one of the best things we ever did as a family and seeing it first hand had a lasting impact on my kiddos.

Last night we had 4 little RRG's brave the cold and ask their neighbors for donations... over 200 cans and boxes later.. They were done.. and it didn't take very much time at all!!!

It was very cute to listen to them ask the first few times.... by the time they were done, they became pros at it!!!  After all who is going to turn down 4 girls in their soccer warmups, saying they are collecting donations for NW Harvest!!  While the little sisters pulled the wagons!

Tink was out last night too.  She had a blast and was very proud of herself (papa was too).  I didn't get a count, but it was all that her Radio Flyer carry!  :D
