« on: December 01, 2005, 03:01:04 PM »

coming from TEXAS I sure am confused as to what this white flaky stuff is that is melting upon contact...... it sure is making me really cold though!
I hope it goes away and doesn't come back or I might move back to TEXAS!!!
I was there this past week and I was wearing shorts and enjoying the 75 degree clear skies!!  And now this!!!
GEEEEZ!!   Bbbbrrrrr

Wonder how many coaches will try and practice today??? I know we have the day off. Grew up in Colo. and played more than a few games in the snow but hated practice in it. Stay warm everyone.

   Oh Dragon hope you are not freezing up as most of your kind is cold blooded

no practice for EFC club.  High schools closed the fields.  We are told that if the H.S. is closed for school tomorrow the fields are closed for the whole weekend. ie. no games played, must reschedule.
I am praying there is school tomorrow..... kids want to play PATRIOTS!!!!!

Should play in any weather (except for lightening storm).

I don't think either of my girls have not played due to snow or anything else.  When my youngest was U11 they played a State Cup game where there was snow, freezing rain, hail, and the wind was blowing sideways.  As a fan it was miserable, and the girls weren't having much fun (at least not until they won) because the frozen rain hurt when it hit their skin.  I think soccer players are some of the toughest athletes out there.  They play in it all!!!

most clubs this time of year are practicing on turf, which is usualy schools fields, when the schools close so do the fields. i know several of the schools here have new field turf and they don't want the fields getting messed up with practices in the snow. Waiting until it melts keeps the field useable for longer periods of time when its not snow covered. We sat and drank hot chocolate and watched the snow, of course we played in it too.

Snow rocks :D  :)  8)

What a beautiful night for soccer practice.  White snow on the turf field and snow falling.  My DS's team practiced tonight and had the whole field to themselves since the other two teams that share the field did not show -- what wusses -- it's just a little frozen water!

My DD wished it was her night for practice, oh well, at least she got to throw snowballs at the boys while they practiced.

Love that snow!!!

A Little Snow Won't Keep Us Down
« Reply #17 on: December 02, 2005, 01:19:37 AM »

I've been a little quiet the last fews days due to month end at work but could not let this moment go. We live in University Place and it is snowing hard here. The ground is white and our neighborhood looks beautiful with all the Christmas Lights glistening in the new snow.  :D  :D  :D I am having trouble getting the kiddos down because they are hoping for no school tomorrow. :?  :?  :?

As for soccer, my DD and some of her teammates have played not only in snow but ice. We had Dad's trying to get the chunks off the fields a few years ago. We had portable propane heaters and lots of blankets to keep them and the fans warm.

One thing my Dad used on me when I played soccer and I use on my DD when the weather is like that is to rub baby oil on the bare skin that is exposed. It is a natural insulator and it takes the sting off when the ball hits your legs. The ball just slips off.

I have to admit I hope it is gone by Saturday because the River Road Gals play the Crush at 3:30 in Renton and I would hate for weather to interfer with either team's play. This should be a great game regardless. Good luck to all the teams snow or shine but I predict regardless this will be a wet one.        Keep lots of hot cocoa and blankets ready for after the game. The girls will need it and a stop at Starbucks for the parents is my remedy for chilled bones. ;)  ;)

Time to get the rest of the house down for the count because tomorrow will be an early morning to see if school is late or cancelled.

To everyone else, be safe and drive carefully if you have to go out.

All 4 of my kiddos are out here with the entire neighborhood playing the snow and they are all headed up the street to the middle school for a snowball fight. Papadora works for Comcast out of Auburn and he left at 5:00 this morning to get to work on time and he said the roads were really slick so everyone please be careful?

My dd's say thanks and both want to try that tip- anything that will help because when the ball is frozen and the legs are cold - ow!
