Soupy, I think you are close as if I remember it had something to do with unemployment. I always wondered why a reggae band was based out of England. Red Red Wine.....

Can't remember the exact thing - but it was Unemploment Benefits 40 - don't know if that was a certain form or term for the unemployment -

One day the very vocal Edge cry back, "Yeah, well You Too!" The whole band though whoa, there it is. Our name. Bono being the scholar of the group is credited with the misspelling that lead to U2

I'm wit ya, don't like Beatles, or Led Zeppelin or the Stones. Some of the British bands were OK, but not many. Although Deep Purple, now there's a band. The Proclaimers, a couple Scottish lads, they could sing a bit,,,,,,,
