Just got back to town.  GREAT work by Crush this week-end.  There were very good teams  in Lake Oswego last week-end.

A well earned championship by the Crush girls... WELL DONE!

I met Might Mouse and Gumby it was nice to meet you.  It's fun to meet a parent from the other team and see what they think of your team.  It was good to see Eggy again, we will see you in a couple weeks.  And If anyone wants to see a good game 2:00 Friday 8/3.  At the Powerlines in Beaverton.

From what I could see, they were pretty good. I don't play on them, just sit on the sidelines, so my take may be off.

From Chewy's source.......

Crush vs Energy.......2-0
Reign vs Eastside....... source had no score but Reign wins in PK's    ;)

I thought you had a more reliable source than Dragon?  It was only 1-0.    :P

Sorry, my computer at home is down due to some remodeling and this is the first chance I've had to get online at work this week.

I had a nice chat before the Semi Final Game with Mighty Mouse.  He pointed out a few other posters from this website who were at the game.  Dragon, thanks for the necklace.  Shu loved it!

It was a fun game.  I thought the girls were going to get slaughtered watching the first five minutes of the game.  That gal on the left wing has got speed and a big foot.  Whew!  But, the Energy girls woke up and made a game of it.

Overall, the weekend was a lot of fun.  The teams were fairly even within our bracket.  Had some conversations with parents from Emerald City, Ireland, and Crush.  During the game with Emerald City, there was a sequence of 7 headers in a row before the ball ever hit the ground.  It was awesome!  We began counting with each header after about 3.  There were a few other times when they had 3 or 4 headers in a row.

A couple of the games could have gone either way.  The game between Energy and Purple Reign had the goalies making spectacular saves on both sides.  Either team could have won the game.

The game against Southside probably should have ended in a tie.  From where I was standing, the foul was a big nothing and shouldn't have been called period.  That foul led to a free kick which went into the upper right corner of the goal.  Any free kick inside of 35 yards for #22 is dangerous.  You just had a feeling she was gonna put it in... and she did, sigh.  HM, I hope she's feeling better (injured in another game).

The game against Emerald City went back and forth, but Emerald City might have dominated a bit more than Energy.  The goal was quesitionable, as well.  A long ball was kicked into Emerald City's end of the field.  The goalie waited for the ball to come to the box so she could pick it up.  This gave her defense and our striker time to chase the ball.  The goalie reached down to grab the ball at about the same time our striker got to the ball.  The striker won the battle, putting the ball into the back of the net.  It appeared the goalie was touching the ball when our striker pushed the ball aside.  I thought the ref would call it a foul, but they called it a goal instead. It definitely could have gone either way, depending on the referee.  I'm not sure how much control the goalie needs to have before it's considered a foul.  Energy and Emerald City were tied for points and I think they were tied for "goals for" and "goals against", but the first tie breaker is "head-to-head" which goes to Energy.

I really think any of the 4 teams in our bracket could have moved on.  I had heard Purple Reign won, but apparently my sources aren't very good either!

The tournament overall was fantastic with great teams, great DD's, and great parents.  The only complaint I had was the 90 minutes it took me to get from work to the field on a Friday evening during rush hour traffic.  It is normally a 25-30 minute drive... sigh
