Eagles  & Crush bump on Oswego Nike Cup performance.
Oregon has been a tough place for the Glory ... fallen from a top 5 position to #8

What about Saprissa? It should be in the top 10 or at least replace FC Crush. The team beat FC Crush 96 sky twice at the Kent Cornucopia Tournament and won the gold division.

The team also tied NWN Red in a friendly and beat Evergreen A team at Starfire Tourney as well as Emerald City White in a friendly.

Perhaps friendlies don't count, and perhaps independent teams don't count, either, but PDL-bound or not, this team can run with the big girls.

I agree with Hudson, Saprissa should move past Crush.  Head to head should trump whatever the results in another tourney are, right?  I think in this case wrong.

The Kent Corn tourney was not one of the most competitive, EFC Blue which lost all three games of their last tourney at Starfire, losing to Synergy, 7-1, Crossfire 6-1 and '97 eagles, made it to the semi's and lost on PK's to Saprissa.  This is probably why they aren't moving up.  CZAR could be looking at strength of schedule.  Maybe the CZAR can clarify.

Friendlies/scrimmages are dicey.  It kind of depends on what the coach is doing with his players.  It can be a testing ground for trying different player alignments, and winning can be secondary to getting ready for tournaments.  Also, the refs are often the coaches.  Tournaments...nobody's not trying to win those games!

Sounds like Saprissa ought to be in the mix.

Thanks for your replies.

All the friendly matches involving Saprissa except for one were played with refs. But your point on friendlies is a valid one.

Saprissa played in an informal District Spring League that mirrored the PDL spring league. It wasn't officially sanctioned but played 8 matches with refs.

Saprissa plays in the Bigfoot tournament next.

I'm your newest biggest fan!

Love your home page ... copied here for all of us to see!
Now this is youth soccer at its finest!
GO Saprissa!

We are Saprissa. We are a new team with big dreams. Our goal: to play at the highest level of girls soccer while having heaps of fun and learning lots about ourselves and the world's beautiful game. Saprissa is a Girls U-11 District 1 select team and is a member of the Ballard Soccer Club in North Seattle. We also are Seattle youth soccer's low-cost option: we do not charge coaching fees to keep costs down and offer more girls the opportunity to play year-round soccer.

Why Saprissa? The name comes from the best team in Central America and Costa Rica -- Saprissa Deportivo -- a team known for its technical skills, creative passing and winning attitude. This tradition of excellence has resulted in 22 league championships and several regional club titles against Mexican and U.S. teams. We first learned about Saprissa from one of the girls on our team, who is half Costa Rican. Her uncle initially supplied the team with Saprissa's purple and white uniforms. The colors and name have stuck.

The Saprissa team was born in a humble shoe store in a working class barrio in San Jose, Costa Rica. Richard Saprissa was one of the few people in 1935 who could afford to supply the team with uniforms and so the players named the team after him. For us, Saprissa represents a tradition of excellence earned through hard work. We believe in high individual and team standards, we believe in diversity, and we believe that nothing memorable is achieved without commitment and struggle. For Saprissa, the values we learn on the pitch will extend way beyond it for the rest of our lives.

... and I love the transparancy of your website .... nice job to all!

11. FC Crush

Eagles have some solid tourney wins against quality clubs, I think they have to be in the top 5.  I bounced Crush for losing twice in Kent Cornicopia tourney.  Glory goes lower for the same reasons.

I have seen 8 of the 11 teams play.  Haven't seen Glory, Harbor, or ECFC.

There's my shot at the top 10.

What is going on with crossfire?  Are they missing a lot of players?  The crossfire team I saw early this summer would have easily advanced.
