Xfire Barton
FCV Glory W.C.
EFC
Spokane

Xfire vs Glory           Xfire Barton
EFC vs Spokane     EFC
Xfire vs EFC

Champs: Eastsiiiiide

Where we differ, Stengrund just came off two losses this weekend, losing 4-1 twice.  I know they were missing players but so were the other two teams.  I don't see them winning a bracket, but admittedly I don't know much of the other teams in their bracket.

FC Crush will certainly be tested.  Do they have it in them to grab a game from Glory and ruin their Wildcard chances?  I don't think so, but I'm always wrong so we will see.

I'd like to see some fresh blood, Spokane stir the pot in the semi's.

EFC to beat Crossfire.  Gotta go with the #1 seed until beaten.

Syngy ... as always ... sound logic.

IMO -  I don't see the wildcard coming from Bracket 1 because of the 3 point scoring system and tie breaker system.
Tiebreaker favors the team/bracket with the best goal differential (GD) with no capitation on max points. (after head-to-head)
I see bracket 1 scores low thus GD low (a lot of 1-0 games in bracket 1)
Other teams/brackets should be running up the scores to improve their GD  :(

not sure I'm a fan of this system ... but "it is what it is" ;)

Wasn't thinking of the 3 point system.  Running up scores should mean FCV Glory won't be coming out of that bracket, but for argument sake I'm sticking with the picks.

does 60 Acres complex have mod fields? :?
Another way to ask: are the GU11 teams playing 9v9 on mod fields or regulation fields at X-Fire Challenge?
Thx,

They have doubled lined fields.  That takes care of the width, not sure about the length.

In Bracket #2, I think XFire Brazil (Bteam) is underrated. They've played without key players at tourneys and could surprise and beat EFC Red.

Agree XFire Stengrund (D team) won't win bracket but interesting any pick over XFire C team.

I would never rule out a cal south team, Carlsbad will win that bracket  or at the least be a wild card thats is my guess. Crossfire teams, are spread through out the brackets, just depends at this age which one will fare the best, who has the least injuries and vacations etc.,

Seems like they segmented teams a bit by ability. Toughest teams in Bracket #1, tough teams in Bracket #2 and more of the silver-level teams in Bracket #3. Don't know all the teams so this is a generalization...

yep, thats what it looks like to me too Weekend warrior. Probly a good idea to spread it out a bit. then you get like competititon against like competition. Although it might be a bit tough to get past the semis. if you are in a weaker? group. no biggie though. I am sure at this age it kind of the roll of the dice as to who moves on and who doesnt.

I like it. Just getting out of bracket is a thrill for the players and it's not as fun when you don't believe you have any chance at all.

I agree WW.

I'm thinking the wildcard will come from bracket 2 or 3 based on the 3 point scoring and tie breaker system .... more likely that bracket 1 will have lower GDs ...
If my predictions are correct EFC should have the easiest road to the finals and play against a battle tested bracket 1 winner.

I haven't been too accurate with my predictions however

agree .... a down side is that we may not see some very good bracket 1 teams move on ... semi's could be a little on the "weak" side ;)  .... no worries ... this format should allow the two best teams to meet in the finals

Crossfire-B tied this morning... they may not make it out their pool, likely come down to GD with Carlsbad to see who makes the semis

I liked EFC anyway, but especially now. (nothing like waiting until after the games start to make a prediction  :D )

Here's how the 96'ers are shaping up:

Bracket 1:
Carlsbad 7 pts
Crossfire Barton 5 pts
FC Crush 3 pts
FCV Glory 1 pts

Bracket 2:
EFC 96 Red 9 pts
Crossfire Brazil 6 pts
3 Rivers 3 pts
THUSC Mercury 0 pts

Bracket 3:
Spokane 7 pts
Crossfire Stengrund 7 pts
Crossfire Crum 3 pts
TCYSL Thunder 0 pts

Semi 1:
Carlsbad vs Crossfire Brazil
Semi 2:
EFC 96 RED vs Spokane

:?  Can someone explain why Crossfire Brazil is in the semis as the wildcard and not Crossfire Stengrund? :?
                      MP/    W/     D/     L/     GF/    GA/    PTS
Brazil              3/       2/      0/     1/      8/       5/       6
Stengrund      3/       2/      1/     0/      9/       2/       7

Stengrund has 7 points (vs  Brazil's 6) No loses (vs 1 for Brazil) and a better GD (7 vs 3)..... why is Brazil the wildcard? (per website 6:15 PM Sat.)

Ok now I'm really confused :?  and pissed  :

The website has: (as of 6:45 PM Sat)

Semi 1: Carlsbad vs Crossfire Brazil
Semi 2: EFC 96 Red vs Crossfire Barton

ant: guess you're right ... X-Fire is making it up to suit their needs
This is BS .....
Stengrund just got screwed by their own club ......   and what about Spokane? they get to play the loser of  8:00 AM Semi game ..... What the ?

Original schedule had

Semi 1: Winner Bracket 1 vs wildcard
Semi 2: Winner Bracket 2 vs Winner of Bracket 3 ....

Guess I'm getting my first taste of how Crossfire does things   .... now I know why "everyone" is so pissed at 'em .....

Seriously?  I believe it, but can't believe it.  I looked at the goals given and what not, but it doesn't matter, Stengrund has more points, there must be a better reason.  Someone help, I'm living on the edge!!!!!!

OK, something is going on.  The second best team should be the "B" bracket, right?  Wrong, but Crossfire Brasil is still advancing.  Barton is also advancing, Please tell the Syngy NOW!!!

Giving X-Fire the benefit of the doubt, looks to me like the C-bracket was more of "Sliver" bracket, but by doing it this way the winner of that bracket gets a shot at the better teams, and an extra game via playing a consoliation game against one of the losing semi-finalist. The C-Bracket game was on the original schedule. It does look off though because the original schedule had the Winner of A, Playing the Wildcard and Winner of B and C playing as well.

That said... as a very new CP, I have heard nothing but negative things about X-fire and wouldn't put it past them to do something like this.

" Tournament play will vary depending on how each bracket fills up. The Tournament Director and Tournamnet Committee will determine how teams will advance to the semifinals and or finals if any for each age group/gender group. The criteria for any team advancement out of bracket play will be reflected on the GAME SCHEDULES PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST TOURNAMNET GAME " This is what I found in their rules!

hmmmm..... well the schedule's at the first tourny game were:
Semi 1: Winner Bracket 1 vs Wildcard
Semi 2: Winner Bracket 2 vs Winner Bracket 3

Doesn't seem fair to "change" things 2/3 of the way thru the tournament. Even if it does make for better competition or whatever .... a team enters the tourny thinking one thing only to have it change 2/3 of the way thru?

Forget about fair for a second, how about NUTS!!.  Maybe Crossfire has some internal "rule" within the club we don't know about.

I read that a lot different.  I think they are basically leaving  it up to officials at the beginning of the tourney but not necessarily changing the rules during the tourney.  I think something will come out tomorrow that will make more sense.

Syngy that's the way I interpreted  it as well- that it would be prior to the first game of the tourney not 3/4 way through! I wonder how spokane feels about all this? Anyone from Spokane out there?
