I think Bracket 3 was a jamboree.  Only brackets 1 and 2 were meant to advance.  this would make a lot more sense.

Crossfire just changes it as it goes.

According to tournament director, bracket C was supposed to be a silver bracket, but she forgot to tell everyone.

Totally unfair. The Spokane team was brand new and just starting to play good together. They were getting stronger as the tournament went along. FIrst weekend together and the last game showed the potential they can reach.

Does anyone else just change things as they go?

XFIRE steps it up and beats EASTSIDE in the semi's.  Maybe the "2nd chance" or whatever you won't to call it was the wake up call Crossfire needed.

I saw the 2-2 tie bracket game between Carlsbad & Crossfire Barton ..... should be a good final.

I'm still perplexed regarding how the whole GU-11 Semifinal schedule changed. :?

Regardless ..... Come on Crossfire Barton! Beat that Southern Cali team!

I was not at the semi between XF and EFC but was told that XF won in overtime! That's just salt added to the wound of EFC and this debacle of a tournament. Then to top it off after playing in the semi and 2 OT 's EFC has to play an hour later against Spokane?!
I say we all protest next year!!!!

Just remember that regardless of how the tourney shakes down, you still have to win your games to finish on top.  Most of the time you have to beat the best to be considered the best.  Regardless of how Crossfire advanced, Eastside still was in control of their own destiny.  The semi final wasn't going to be easy no matter who they played.  It just happened to be xfire this time.

Curious-  Did anyone get an explantion ( Spoakne)  as to how and why XF put their teams that did not advance into the semis? Just wondering how they got away with it.

Spoke to two Bracket 1 coaches and they were never told about a pseudo silver bracket etc. They were looking at the same schedule as everyone else and planning their strategies accordingly.
Bracket 1 Winner vs Wildcard
Bracket 2 Winner vs Bracket 3 Winner

I would love to hear more from Spokane ..... How was Spokane (Bracket 3 Winner) told they were not in the semi's and that they were "givin" a consolation game against a semi-final loser .... :?

The score is not even posted? Did Spokane and EFC even play the consolation game? :?

Spokane heard of the 'silver bracket' after their last game on Saturday.  The game between Spokane Jr Elite and EFC was listed at the fields as Bracket C - Final but no mention anywhere of the result.  If they wanted to change the bracketing, at least reflect it in the final results.

EFC won over Jr Elite ... the game was tied for a while but EFC put a few in ... I was watching two games at the time and do not remember the final score.

Thanks Futsal .....

Giving Crossfire and the Tournament Director the benefit of the doubt .... ;)
It appears that the GU-11 Semi-Final debacle was not intentional but rather a complete oversight in scheduling and an inexcusable  lack of communication to the teams involved.

Spokane lost to Eastside 4-2. Crossfire Stengrund who should have been the wild card also was given a 'consolation' game against Tri-Cities team also in Bracket 2 and lost 4-2.

If it was a 'silver' why didn't Crossfire and Spokane play off?

While worse for Spokane, pretty unfair for both. Although clearly brackes were stacked to make #3 more appropriate for those teams, who would pay $500+ for a 'jamboree'? Seems obvious there should have been a silver division. DDs thought they were showing up for semi-finals with a chance for a medal and were pretty disappointed.

I'm sure Crossfire A & B complained loudly for changes to get through and guess it worked.

While a bit disappointed in the final scheduling ... we are pretty proud of this group of girls from Spokane.

These kids played U10 (SpVJSA) association rec this past spring and most will be joining the Spokane SC Jr Academy (club rec) program this fall.

For them, their first club training is still over a week away and their first tryout will not be until May 2008.  Our association does not allow competitive teams with tryouts until U12.

The goal was to have fun and show the girls a higher level of soccer then they have ever been exposed to before ... I think both goals were accomplished.
