Did I read this right?  You only play two teams from your bracket?  Does this make it easier for teams to advance?  Never seen it done quite like this before.

Thursday and Friday are more or less a qualifying tournament.  The two games will determine which championship bracket you will play in.

Where is Ackerman Middle School?
« Reply #10 on: August 14, 2007, 05:41:55 PM »

My dd's team plays both games on Friday at Ackerman Middle School # 3. I did not see Ackerman Middle School on the list of venues for directions. Does anyone know the address of this field. There appear to be three fields. I googled Ackerman Middle School and it came with an Ackerman Middle School in Canby Oregon..is this correct? Any help would be great.

It's a really unique tournament in how they do things. For example in most tournaments you have to finish either top of your group or second to move on. well in this if you finish first you go to the platinum bracket, second gold, third silver and fourth consolation. Which means everyone gets to move on and play other teams that did the same. It gives even the third place team the chance to win a trophy by winning that bracket play.

The trophy is just part of it, IMO.  Plenty of teams out there don't get many chances to play in the elimination rounds.  This way, plenty of teams get the chance to play in a win-or-go-home - Go to PK's for a tie game.  Just fun!  :D

Your exactly right. I really enjoy the way they have this tournament set up. Theres a reason it gets so many teams that enter it.

Yes, I believe that Ackerman is in Canby. Go to our website (in signature at the bottom of message) and scroll down in the locations button. You should find directions to Ackerman.

Or PM me.

Anyone want to explain why OUSA Ginga (GU13) Premier Silver team this year and Premier Gold team last year is in GU13 Silver Brackets when teams have byes in gold?

WD,

Ginga actually made Premier Gold this year as well.  They had to go to a third tie-breaker with Bridlemile to decide who got the nod in Gold and Silver.  Let's face it, Ginga is kinda of a tweener team; they aren't strong enough to beat 90% of the gold teams, yet strong enough to beat probably 75% of the Silver teams.  Had it not been for an own goal by Bridlemile with 5 minutes to play, they would be playing Silver anyway.

I agree with you, they are probably better suited playing in the gold bracket, especially since they tied WUSC, and Eastside Sunderland during Oregon qualifying who are in Gold.  I would think there coach could have got them switched to the Gold bracket if he felt strongly about it.
