This is great. Do you plan on updating weekly as the season rolls along? Things can really get shaken up this weekend!

Things could get shaken up every weekend, probably best to wait at least two weekends or 3 to see how things settle.  Not to mention this would be the best way to see patterns emerge.

But if you have time to kill, bi-weekly would be nice  ;)

Just wondering why Duffy and Josserand have fallen or not broken into the top ten when Duffy won the Gold diamond at Chinook and Josserand won in the Silver division and both were finalists at Starfire. Have not heard much tournament play from the others in late summer only early on.[/quote]

I think you have to look at the teams in the top ten to answer that question.  I know Westsound lost to Xfire Stengrund at Bigfoot which is probably hurting westsound.  Not too sure about Harbor except they lost to Westsound this weekend 3-1.

Honestly you can make a case for any of the top 15 to crack the top ten in my opinion.  All are very good teams and have their strengths and weaknesses.  Every single CP thinks their team could have played better when they lost and are wonderful when they win.

My friend's daughter is on the team. He said they have won like 29 games since spring and lost only one to XF in overtime. I have seen them play and they are fun to watch.

I will say they are inconsistent only because it seems they haven't fielded their full team all summer.  How can you rank a team high if they keep losing in bracket play????  They did have a solid run in the XFIRE tourney and again in Oregon, but Labor wasn't that great.  Not putting anyone down, just guessing why they are where they are.

I understand what you're saying.  I think the ZSAR is claiming that "if" and "when" they field their full team they ARE a top ten team..  From what I hear they haven't had their full team all summer.  How else do you explain losing to an Eastside "c" team in the Kent tourney.  The same EAstside team that Synergy has beat 4-0 and 7-1?  At some point the rankings are speculative and the Zsar is taking in the x factor for more than one team, I Think.  yes/no??????

It sure looks like CRUSH and SYNERGY are the only non-PDL teams that cracked the top 20.  How 'bout an extra shout out for them!!!  Especially the fact the Synergy team was just formed this spring, no development teams for the club and they're hanging with the "big boys".  AND YES I'M A HOMER.   :D

#1 thing to remember: these picks are Caesar's opinion
Crush is a top 10 team (for now ;) )
Crush has slipped up a little in recent tournaments. As Syngy stated they've played the last couple without their full squad. I believe a "Legionaire" told me that the only (or one of their only) tournaments this year where they had their full squad was @ Crossfire Challenge. They showed their stuff. (Played X-fire tough and lost 1-0 and beat the Glory 1-0) ..... remember I said the rankings where based on tournament play / Legionaire intelligence / watching / wiji board .....

I see Timbers being down a bit further.  Losing twice this weekend to Synergy and Westsound and only beating Eastside "c" 1-0.  This is probably why the CSAR placed them closer to 20.

Yep ....
I think Timbers are a Top 20 "bubble" team. They've shown tremendous improvement over the summer and wanted to recognize their hard work. I love it when a team keeps focused and works hard. 8)  Timbers look like they're jelling as a team.
They've been hammered a few times and they've bounced back  .... good coaching and good kids

Looking at the D5 teams and schedule (thanks D for the links on the standings thread!) Timbers Red are my pick for #1 D5. A battle for #2 between the OSC Heartbreakers and FCV Valor (Devo).

I think not electing to play PDL will hurt the Timbers developement this year. The D5 competition will not push the Red gals and this will become evident @ Challenge Cup.
Hope they prove me wrong!

This is a tough one ... I struggled with this.
Let me state that I think both are very good teams with quality coaching. I look to see both of these teams improve and expect to see them in the top 10 at some point.

My opinion:
In response to the Chinook/Starfire comments ... I think this is a perfect example-
-Dufsters came up short on the elite playoff (Platinum) and won the "second best" playoff  (Diamond)... A top 10 team would have been in the mix with the Platinum posse....
-Joss played in GU11 SILVER* .... need I say more?
-Starfire Labor Day: look at the competition - not a power packed tourney. No disrespect intended to the teams that played in the tourney.

* got to admit that I'm a little puzzled at why Joss is PDL1-A and Reynolds is PDL1-C yet Joss plays Chinook Silver and Reynolds plays Chinook Gold. Can a Westy insider let us in on the logic over there? PM me if you'd like .... thanks

Agree somewhat with your logic Caeser. However keep in mind who each team played in bracket play or qualifying to advance to the "elite"bracket or the diamond bracket at Chinook Cup. Duffy played Eastisde Red which are agruably the best u11team in our state with a very strong b team which they may have used as guest players no doubt. Trinidad made it to the finals against Eastside. The top two teams came out of the A bracket where Duffy was also placed and Duffy did suffer two losses against those teams. I contend that if they were in another bracket they would have qualified in the Gold Plantinum as well. Not taking away a great performance to win the diamond division which is also part of the Gold bracket.

It also appears that some teams get the benefit of the doubt in these "opinion" polls based on strength of club and past history of club which I completely understand as well.  Other clubs, such as Harbor, are still in the growth process but we are starting to definitely put out quality teams at the young level

I think Duffy needs to go up in the rankings for one reason and one reason alone.  Because when Duff yells in his awesome accent, "C'mon Refahree" it is COOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

The club made the decision so as not to burn out kids/families at the younger ages a/ travel and expense. There are lots of good teams and games to be had in Oregon, but at U11 D5 is requiring the teams to stay in district.  I think this can be worked around w/ lots of scrimmages throughout the season- but we'll see come Cup time.

Looking forward ....  the Duffsters have a wonderful opportunity this weekend to prove they belong within the Top 10 when they travel to play Eagles - Krage. (Caesar's: #6 vs #12) ..... some great match-ups this weekend
The nice thing about league play is it removes the tournament variables such as multiple games in one day, guest players, etc. and gives us all a more realistic view of the teams at play.

.... also keep in mind that in this guessing game (rankings) the difference between #12 and #10 - #9 - #8 is often times just what 10 year old girls ate for breakfast ;)  ...... doh (that was for Syngy/homer!)

Good luck to the Duffsters this weekend!
