D, the Avatar has nothing to do eith my screen name (as one could guess) but is a result of my ongoing battle with a family of squirrels that raid my wild bird feeders.  Every contraption I've come up with to defeat them has ended up with them beating me.  The avatar is in recognition of the supreme rulers of my backyard...the squirrels!

We had to stop feeding them last year as they would actually come into the house to get at their food! We had to bring it in because they chewed through the plastic lid LOL
As much as a pain as they ended up being, I miss 'em being around.

Smart they are...then there's the two chipmunks.  These two work in tandem like a pair of acrobats.  One of the feeders is supposed to be "squirrel proof" (guess it dosen't apply to chipmunks) :roll: .  There is a perch for the birds to rest on while eating, if a squirrel or chipmunk sits on it a metal gate is lowered from the animals weight and no food for them.  Well, now one chipmunk sits on the perch and helps the other who slides below to hang on a small lip near the food area.  The first chipmunk jumps off and now the hanging chipmunk uses one hand/paw to scoop out as much seed as possible before he loses his grip and drops to the ground.  Then they feast and I believe laugh at me!
