I wish I grew up in england, so I could have been in the youth system. Since all the clubs run the youth stuff, I could have been a starter for Arsenal!!!!!!

Shhhhh no one needs to know it was recreational level. I see all these english guys that say they played there, but some can't run.

No need to worry their secret is safe with me  I guess not now!!!!  :x

Shhhh--Yote played for FVB Altensteig--a small German team near Stuttgart.  Even made the paper--can't read it, but it was there    Just kicking around after college. ;)

Are you asking about HS, college, coaches or what? What would impress me is who played in Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Brazil and maybe France(although France is Europe).

Also, playing in Europe is to broad, cause I played in Europe during my tour of duty playing against the local Spanish teams, so that means very little.

Squash also makes a good point about people stating they played in Europe or England when in fact there is no way to know. Put on an accent and you are in the money. Heck everyone plays soccer in Europe, so you don't have to be that good of a player in order to impress people to get a coaching job over here.

Its like us going over there and throwing an American Football around and getting a coaching job cause we are American. Doubt that will ever happen, but you catch my drift.

But for your interests, yeah I played in Europe and I know other coaches who did as well, but not sure they want to be named

it's the accent!

Sometimes it amazes me that someone who spent a year in England OR has been in this country for 20+ years  has a stronger accent when they are on the pitch! This seam especially true when they are yelling during a match.

I once heard a parent say, "when you hear the accent, you just know he knows what he is talking about."

I just find it funny.

Oh ya...I played football for USC 80-83. Can't you tell by my accent?

Do friendlies count.  I was coaching the United States Challange teams in 1994 and played with a Under 30 womens USA team verses Norway & Danmark.

Bobby Howe is one of the best defensive teachers that I have encountered. His energy and simplicity in explaining the topic was easy to understand.

Did he not write the current book used for the C & D licenses?
