Thought maybe some great answers to these questions would help some of our "newer" parents overcome the fear/excitment of travelin' out of town for the first time

My Sons/Daughters team is going out of State for the first time!!

Do they use Cowbells in California?
1.A -
Bring DVDs and a portable player (my laptop plays DVDs, so I use that).
Bring homework (if during the schoolyear)
Don't allow the DKs (or the spouse  ) to run free-willy all over the hotel. Remember, the coach is usually responsible (even though they usually don't know it) for the group. Do you want them knowing your kid was the one who made the $$ go up?
Unless you can get reservations at a restaurant, do not go as an entire group between games.
Carpool if you can.
2. Wherever there are RedNecks - you will find Cowbells. Ugh they are so embarrassing.
I came to my nephews game once and my parents were came too. My mom had a CowBell. I was SO embarrassed. I stood way far away. She was not out of control with it though. Just a few 'jiggles' when a goal was scored.
Those that use them more than that are just obnoxious. Do you think Mr/Mrs Jeykll turn into Mr. cowHYDE once they touch the bell?
