Soccer tourny?  Grandma's house or sitting all alone at home watching 'It's a wonderfull life'.

Grandma's house for the big meal!

We always head to Seattle on Friday  and spend the night, go swimming, have dinner at Gordon Biersch...tip a cold one or two.

This year we'll get our lazy rears up on Sat. and make our way over to Husky Stadium and watch the Mighty Dawgs of Montlake kick some Cougar butt!

Go Huskies!!!!!!!!

apple scented roast turkey with calvados brandy flavor. Roast sweet ptatoes with praline crust, homemade cranberry relish with Grand Marnier, roast garlic smashed potatoes, homemade sour dough biscuits, sour cream and raisin pie along with the normal victims; cherry, apple and pumpkin (yuck).

But, the very, very, very best part of Thanksgiving ? Turkey sangwiches later that night. Homemade bread, sliced turkey, a little homemade sage/herb mayonnaise, cream cheese and cranberry relish. Make you wanna slap your momma,,,,,

Last year Ken talked about doing a Turducken.  This is a chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey.  Well unless our 12 pound Havanesse and I want to eat 20 pounds of food by ourselfs this idea is now a no go.

Quote from: "Darling Wife"
We need a turkey for it to feel like Thanksgiving.  That thing would not feel like Thanksgiving and would ruin the whole holiday

This alone would be enough.  14 years ago we went on a cruise over Christmas.  To this day she has not let me live that one down

Quote from: "Darling middle son"
I do not like poultry so what makes you think I would like 3 different poultrys smoshed into one?

Give him his own box of Stove Top (not that gross stuff that comes out a turkey) and he would be fine

Quote from: "Darling foster daughter"
I think we should just have Sushi and Miso soup     ?

She is fasinated by anything Japanese!  If any of you have ever tried Miso soup you would know how it tastes like old pond water.

Quote from: "Darling daughter"
It is bad enough that we have a holiday where we celebrate killing an animal but you want to kill how many poor defensless animals?  How would you like it if a Turkey, a duck and a chicken all attacked you with hatchets?
Many of you have DDs so I do not really have to say much more

Quote from: "Darling nephew"
So do you debone the birds before or after they are dead   ??
OK so he was a vote for but for all the wrong reasons

Quote from: "Darling older son"
Duck is gross!  it is to oily.

This from a kid who once deep fried a hamburger

Quote from: "In Laws"
WTH    Gee we might have to stay home this year.  Yeah thats it a family emergancy?

The hardest thing I have to do is choose between watching my Lions v Packers Turkey Day morn or playing at Torrey Pines. Hmmm...
Then choose what wine to go with turkey dinner at the Bahia
NWN gets to play at UCSD.Should be fun for them. Maybe a coach or two will watch em...but they are still young

my family LOVES miso soup, we use half red miso paste and half white. But miso soup is all about the dashi. Unless the soup base is made correctly, you got bad miso. It's important to have the kombu simmer only, never boil. That will make your dashi taste like old pond water. And the quality of the shaved bonito is important too, but not like the kombu,,,,,
