ppfc is playing harbor today???  I would love a recap.

Harbor 1
PPFC 0
Was not able to be at the game but was able to get a recap from others. Terrible field conditions. Grass field with a ton of mud and very mushy. Harbor dominated the first half with Harbor keeper only touching the ball maybe three times. Harbor had a hard time finishing in the conditions. Balls getting stuck in the mud on shot and pass attempts.. Second half Harbor scored within the first few minutes.Harbor on the worse side of the field offensively in second half. Even quick breaks were not able to happen due to the slushy, slow field. PPFC was in Harbor's end much more in the second half.
Defense was able to hold in the rough field conditions only allowing two true shots on goal. PPFC goalie in the first half did an amazing job in the mud preventing several scoring opportunities. She was covered in mud-great effort :D

Congrats Harbor!  ... way to start the tourney with a W!

The Mud Bowl yesterday was an interesting experience for players and parents alike. The game was originally scheduled for turf and then changed at the 11th.hour. In January at the State level turf should be the consistent rule.

Besides the obvious game challenges there is the prospect of unnessary injury. if we go through a tough season to get to this point then the State should attempt to control game conditions to the best of their ability.

Relative to the actual game PPFC played hard and these experiences wil only help the club grow.

Duffy's team has had solid defense all year and the back line and Keeper preserved a win under as time wound down.  Players and parents alike on both teams were muddy and frozen by game end.

Hope bith continue to have luck next weekend.

The reason the game was moved from Lake Stevens High School
( Turf) to 15 ed fields in Maryville was the school district was not in service and kicks us of the field the last minute. PPFC only played one game at 152ed this year and the was the first game of the season at the end of the summer.  We were not happy about it either but that is what you get sometimes.  Watching the Harbor coaching staff complain before the game and after the game was a bit ridiculous..  Do you think the ref really cared?  Go PPFC

Harbor should not say much about fields.  When Glory went up there to play them during PDL, they had to delay the game by 4 hours to move us to a different field because the one they had us on was 3 inches below water.  It happens.

Harbor has a beautiful turf field that all U11 games were played at this season. However, during the Glory weekend, our field was hosting the District 3 tournament at the district's request so we were bumped to a grass field that up to that point had no drainage issues. We did, however, accomadate the teams by getting Gig Harbor High last minute. At the time delay did not seem to be an issue as Glory was going to spend the night and play up in Snoho the next day.

Gauchosoccer-that incident you are talking about was a one time thing. Our coaches were frustrated. You have not seen us play since, so don't try to think you know "our act"  Our head coach has been awesome since then.  This is state cup by the way and January so quickstep was correct, fields need to be safe and playable.

I admire the fact that you defend your own, but, that "incident" was 60 minutes long.  I saw all I needed to see, and will not comment further on the matter.  Maybe I have them all wrong, but I doubt it strongly.

The Harbor staff did not complain about safety because it was not an issue. He thought we were taking advantage of their speed and were trying to slow them down.  We could here him yelling at him players at half time because the game was 0-0.  It was a good game and both teams could have won the game.  Let's not forget both teams played on the same field. PPFC has never played Harbor and it was a eye popper   to see the coach complain before the game, the ref stopped the game to have a nice private moment with the coach   because of his yelling :o , then the complaining.  Is this typical of PDL coaches?

This whole issue is interesting. The last minute change isn't the greatest, but I do disagree with who said every state cup game should be played on turf. Its the advantage of a home team to pick a field that they feel will serve them best, thats part of being the home team. As long as the field fits the rules layed out then theres nothing to complain about, just good strategy.

As far as the question about PDL coaches, I don't think this is a PDL and NON PDL thing. How the coach acts doesn't really depend on the club you are playing for, but the coach himself.

Also I dont know much about these teams, but to me it seemed like people are using th field as an excuse to why Harbor didnt "dominate" however that to me takes away the effort the other team put forth. If im not mistaken both teams had to play on the same field in the same conditions, and hte game ended up 1-0. Whose to say PPFC wouldn't have played a better game on turf? who knows they may have won.

I don't think, Black Knight, that every game should be on turf but a respectable field should be in order. I agree with you that this could be seen as strategy. We have seen alot of coaches this year making noise on the sidelines and parents of players.  Comments that are very inappropriate at kids on our team. But we have also experienced wonderful sportsmanship from other clubs ie: Dos 96 red, FC Alliance to name a few. :D
