I can't see any Academy player wanting to play in the Challenge Cup.  If they wanted to quit the Academy and play in the Championship Cup I would think the x-fer rules (2 weeks before first game) would be the only limiting factor.

What happens next year when the age groups change and some kids on the Academy team are displaced?  Do they tryout on the club team and play P2 (as is the case with Hattrup's team) how does that work?  I think there is a lot to learn with regards to how these things will work themselves out, as this is just the first year.  I has been interesting to watch.

U17 is a critical year for kids to show at Coaches Showcases. Academy kids left behind will surely move to teams that have shown an interest to promote their kids like NWN, EFC and Snoho .    It will be interesting to see what kind of push XF can do to promote a P2 team for next year. I would think they will still try to show their boys at Showcases if possible. But they and ISC will probably lose some boys anyway.
Heat   are a WildCard team for kids in the MetroSeattle/Eastside/FedWay area especially if they move to P1.And with Viet as Coach, that increases their chances of catching new kids.
There will also be movement of current 92s away from their current Clubs to XF and WPFC academy next year. And there will be the kids who are tired of soccer and leave Premier all together.
It's safe to say, most Clubs will look different next year at U17 since NO Club at BU16 was absolutely dominant throughout League play  this year.

The other variable in terms of where they might play is that the academy is based on calender year (Jan-Dec).
