Player Pass
« on: December 18, 2007, 11:51:11 AM »

Do most clubs use the player pass to

a.  Play a B team player on the A team or

b.  Play an A team player on the B team or

c.  Play a younger age player up a year?

If playing a younger player up is it generally on the older B team or A team?

I'm just interested in what the typical scenerio has been with the player pass usage.

I've only seen it used to allow A team players to guest with the B team. But my perspective is limited to one club and age group (U-11). I believe the B team borrowed on occasion from the "Dev" team as well, but I'm not positive.

At the u-11 age I have seen it used several times to have u11 players that are on the u12 teams guest down at u11. A team to A team.

If a Dev player played on a PDL team, it would be a violation of PDL rules. Only PDL players are allowed to use the player pass, and the Dev teams all play District 3. Naughty Naughty!

Our club used the B players in A games mostly.

We used the player pass only when needed....RED team hampered by injury and White team players called up to fill the holes and be seen at that level..... They did very well and were happy to play in a few games this season with the RED team when any other seasonal game they would not have been able to unless as a guest at a tourney.

Megson understood the player pass to mean he could use an A team player from another club to join his A team for league games.

I think that's a little outside the scope of the Player Pass.

Do not think he was trying to use the Players Pass. He was just plain cheating by playing a transferring player to soon. He must have wanted that crossover game win really bad. I thought the transfer date was 31 Oct and if not completed by then the transfer must wait until after all games are complete. But I'm sure they knew the rules they just appear to be above them.

I also heard that Megson is on the ethics committee.

Back to the Players Pass

A few other times I have seem this the Player Pass it seemed to have works. I even know of a few U11's that have been promoted to the A teams after using the player pass, outstanding.

Have seen U11 A team to U12 B team -
This helped the player see kids that might be faster or strong but not necessarily better and to help out the older team with player shortages.

Have seen U11 B team to U11 A team -
It seems like sometimes it is used to help the player see more competitive players or to test a players out for promotion. If the A team is looking to promote a player they must be short players right?

Only seen this once U11 A team to U11 B team -
B team was short players and by rule the A team is the only place they could get a player.

Have seen U12 A team to U11 A team -
Here is seems like it was used when the A team was just short of players so why not grab someone who can fit right in and help get the win but might be on your team the next year.
