It is a record for the CP section of WPS (previous record was 14727), but it's a far cry from DA BIG  RECORD

In the Players Pen, Lil Candy Corn started a sticky.....now at a whopping 24268 and counting.

Did you "miss" it or did you call it "right" per the LOTG

This was actually a very easy non-call.  But it's the type people will swear was wrong.

Blue and white players all lined up at the half line, except one central white player in an offside position.  Ball is struck over the top and we're off to the races.  White player on the far side of the field wins the race to the ball (she was not in offside position when the ball was struck by teammate).  White player originally in offisde position did not affect play (touch ball or in active area of play).

Offiside trap... Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Refdad, You are absolutely right -no offside in this case.

although, as many as 50% of ref's may call this as offsides. Even though the offending player was in an offsides position, they were not involved in the play. But ya gotta admit, it IS called many times even though.

Kennard there was no offending player. In my opinion, Refdad got it right. Had the central white player touched the ball, or distracted the goalkeeper in anyway then he/she is interfering with play. It would be pretty tough for any player to be distracting a keeper from near the half-way line though.

You CP's are too funny...

If the game in reference was a tie, or a loss to the team that was questioning the offsides then D can see the blah blah blah....

but in a 3-1 victory, a "good or bad" offside call is really a mute point

yes, I got that part. My comment was only that many ref's WOULD call an offsides, even though it should be an incorrect call.

And I would guess ALL parents of the opposing side would also be screaming for an offsides,,,

I hear the people refer to it as "Offsides" but when you read the rule it is refered to as "Offside".  What is the proper term to use here?

call "offside' could be said either way in post tense. It was an "offside call', or there were players "offsides".

The correct call and foul is "offside". We've americanized it to offsides.

Just as it is (as 93soccerdad so correctly pointed out;) MOOT not mute. A 'mute' point would be a point unspoken instead of a point not needed to be said, past tense.

Sadly you are right, depending on the experience level. There's no getting away from the fact that once you put a whistle or a flag in someone's hand something very strange often happens to them.
