wow this is really sad to hear. I knew stew for a long time and he always did what was best for his kids and the soccer community. He used so much of his free time on other peoples children and family that he will be sorely missed. It's men like him that make the soccer community and the community in general a great place. I know it will take me a long time personally to get over this loss. Thank you all for your kind words.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and to his soccer family.  I have a very dear friend who knew him well and she had nothing but wonderful things to say about him.  He was an exceptional man and will be missed very much.

Stew Beck was a great coach and person, he will defintly be remebered in our family. When ever I heard my team would be training with his boys teams, all of the the girls on my team got excited and couldn't wait. He always was putting soccer in front of his own free time and always thinking of what would be best for his teams. It would be great for him to be one of our own team coaches but it was great to have him in the club. Best wishes for his family and players. Stew will always be remebered!!!

didn't know him, but knew of him. I will pray for peace and acceptance from his family. So sad for the family he leaves. He's in a much better place, every corner bends into the net, every header on goal hits upper V, every pass is right to feet,,,,

Farewell Stew Beck

It is with an enormous sense of loss that the club announces the tragic death of its long time coach and friend, Stew Beck, on Tuesday February 26th.  There are so many ways to describe his contribution to everyone in the soccer community and beyond.  He always had a smile on his face and a positive word for players and parents.  He always looked at what a player did right.  He would go anywhere at any time to help young people.  His coaching never stopped at soccer.  He always believed that coaches had a responsibility to pass on 'life lessons' to all the boys and girls.  He would say "Better a better person than a better player" although he had the great ability to do produce both.  His ego was inversely proportional to his big heart.  Staying in the background after winning state finals and tournaments, you would have to push him into the photo shoot.  Because for him, it was about the players and no one else.  Clark County has lost one of life's great characters.  Stew, we will miss you.  God bless you.  Our prayers are with his family, Sandy, Stacey and Spenser.

If you would like to contribute to a trust fund for family expenses, you may send a check made out to Columbia Timbers to the Timbers address:

Please note "Stew Beck Trust Fund" on the check.

Thanks Stu for being a positive role model for myself and my family, but expecially helping my son find his love for the game.
