If it's an "A" team  . . .  come one, you gotta go to 60 Acres and play against hot teams from out of state.  As there's no longer a time conflict with San Diego Surf Cup, there could be some great teams playing.

If it's a "B" team, Poulsbo and Diadora looks like a good tourney.   Also, Poulsbo is a nice town   (much more cool than Redmond)

Todd's organization ?  It never ends. I hope it flops and the people in Dist IV get back to supporting all the youth in their area.  Why would Washington State Youth Soccer "host" it if its not for all their memebers?

"The event is set for July 17-20 and will invite only Player Development League (PDL) teams — formerly known as Premier teams.

"We find it exciting because it's going to illustrate the level of play across the state," said Westsound FC president Todd Lincoln, whose organization, along with District IV of the Washington State Youth Soccer Association, is one of the hosts of the tournament..."

There are plenty of tournaments around the state for 'lower' levels, no?

Maybe if this succeeds there is more to come for non-premier in Kitsap.

Ya think?

Amongst others, this tournament excludes 80% of the clubs and 95% of the teams in TPCJSA including NorPoint, SHill and SGE; it excludes ALL of Dist VII including Blackhills and South Sound Select; it excludes all of MRSA and Auburn.  It even excludes ALL of kids in Dist IV except those in the hosting club.
Screw 'em.  This is the exact opposite of what youth soccer needs. Dist IV should be ashamed for even proposing it.

So your argument is that they should have gone with a non-elite tournament first? Only?

Your passion could also be directed towards helping get the tournament you desire off the ground.

Of course, I am not involved in the political climate that birthed this new tournament, so I could be talking out of my ass.  ;)

I think part of lester's point and what I am thinking is there are more "premier teams" than just the PDL - this is just another "exclusive PDL" thing that they are doing, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be getting the "best" teams.  What is their critera for this years U-15 and above - there is no PDL at that age - are they just going to invite teams from those clubs?  To me it doesn't really matter as I would rather put the tournament money for our team to another tournament that doesn't exclude so many players in the state.  If you want an elite tournament that is fine but look at how individual teams do and invite by that - not by what club a team belongs too.  Just for the record both my kids are above PDL age so these things don't really effect me, but I do not believe that the PDL has been healthy for the state of soccer in our state - this is just my opinion, so take it as such.

Formerly known as Premier?  Geez, this makes it sound like there are U-11 and U-12 "Premier" teams...  And the whole meaning of Premier (i.e. teams that EARNED their place at U-14 and above) is forgotten...  Amazing redefinition of terms...  Has TL been reading "1984"?  This sounds like Newspeak...  just redefine terms as you like to suit your needs!

Oy!  Fat ex-players from minor English teams don't scare me... I've spent too much time banging about at real football fixtures.  What scares me is the slightly-too-smart dweebs who think they can con us with "new programs" and "elite competitions" and other such conceits.

Why don't we just let the kids play?
