"keeping" the peace
« on: April 29, 2008, 10:54:21 AM »

When us CPs' have more than one child.  More than one child playing soccer. More than one child playing the same position in soccer.  It becomes quite difficult to keep the peace in the house.  Give an example of your peace keeping tatics....
Mine?  I tell my DDs' to go outside (too much has been broken in the house!) and  kick the ball at each other.   The DD with the least shots past them, THE WINNER.  Problem solved (for the day anyway!)  :?

My son has just joined the club my dd plays for...if the Coach talks to my son about passing, dribbling etc.  My dd talks to him about it on the way home - this turns into a fight when my son says "well you have a finishing problem."  It works both ways

It is not a problem.  My two DSs still at home both play the same position at times.  When one rags on the other, I start listing all the flaws in the initiators game.

So the boys still fight alot, of course, but just not about soccer!

I love that tactic, it sounds like something I would do...I don't think it would go over too well with girls though...the tears would probably start flowing and the discussion would turn to who you love more.

I'm just glad I don't have this problem...youngest kid was the only one to stick with soccer. ;)

Here is a photo of my two:

The photo was taken this past weekend and it, to me, is priceless.  The blond, is little brother (13) and he was guest playing for big bro's U-16 team during the scrimmage.  An injury opened up the spot/need for a guest player.   The coaches wanted to mess around with big bro (one of last years team captians) so told little bro to sub in for big bro and say: its time we put real talent on the field.

Little bro is pictured here smiling while saying this, with big bro's look like WHAT THE....  It was really funny and big bro actually enjoyed the joke  - once he got of the field.

On the car ride home they were ribbing each other - Im better than you, no your not....bla bla bla.  We turn this into a game of witts - what comeback can you make, cordially without using hurtful words - thats a challenge and it means some quick thinking is needed.  Not always will this turn out well, but it seems to help remove the bite of sibling competition and sharpens their witt.

I love the photo!!!
My girls are only 21 months (one U12 and one U14) apart and my younger is almost exactly the same size as her older sister.  It does not help that their names are similiar, sometimes, when I am yelling...OOPPSS  I get them mixed up!!!  I NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT!!

Great save *****  oh brother! I was suppose to say Great save *****!
