Raineir Challenge GU13 Samba dead zone
« on: May 27, 2008, 07:20:01 PM »

Can you explain to me why WPFC set up a dead zone (Flight C) and then advanced two teams out of Fight D?

Was WPFC that scared they wouldn't win a medal at their tournament?

I'm not saying WPFC are fools, but I am saying the idiots that paid money to play against them sure got suckered (again).

The two teams with the most points between flights C and D moved forward...simple as that!

I would agree the teams in Fight C probably should not have been put in the Samba grouping, and probably the same holds for a few other teams as well.  But, enough of the bracket talk - just give the WPFC kids some credit for beating the talented state champs and an impressive Timbers team.

osa from group c was one of the hardest games the girls played.  they had a goalie who worked very hard to keep the score close, but the team was very good too.

Don't be so touchy.  You knew the tournament was in the bag before it ever began.  That's what? Your team's third Gold Medal at RC?

Wow your team is soooo good.  How come you never win state.  Oh that's right, WPFC doesn't put the state tournament together.

So has WP 95 Black become the new whipping boy around here? I thought that was devoted to most Crossfire teams   ;)

Come on people! This is a tourney not Regionals or Nationals! Give the girls credit for playing and winning!

If your not liking the way things were set up at the RC, don't go! I'm sure there will be more than enough teams to fill those spots.

What I'm waiting for is Crossfires' tourney. Will they let their own have an easier bracket? My guess is yes.

So that's the secret to to winning the championship in a tournament!!! All this time my DD's coach has been making them practice  . I'll be sure and let him know he just needs to run his own tournament and then the state champs will let us beat them!

Congrats on winning WPFC :D

Oh yea baby, and that Harbor team.  Where did they come from that game could have gone either way up to the last 59 minutes.

And what about one of the hardest games ever played against Salmon Creek they were undefeated against Sherwood Force, OR City Fireballs, Corvallis FA Tsunami, Alameda Flames, SSC Synergy, FC Ptld Ruby, and of course those super tough BSC Silverbacks.

WPFC should be so proud they were able to just barley post 8 goals against them.  That was a close one.

9...if you are a parent... I feel sorry for your child because you are a pathetic excuse for a person. STOP blaming the team for who they had to play. They didnt set it up.
You only mention the bracket play... so how on earth did WPFC beat the state champs? Must have cheated. Yes.. thats it...

So now that you agreed that the tournament was rigged.  Let's see who comes out next year.  My guess it will be only suckers and idiots.

The suckers are the teams that think they have a chance (ECFC, FCV and 3-Rivers).  FCV is the biggest dup as that's the third time they ended up in the bracket of death.

The idiots are the teams that don't understand their role is to loose (Harbor, Salmon Creek, OSA Inferno).  These teams are probably scratching their heads trying to figure out how come no one in their bracket advanced out to the semi??????

So next year when WPFC wins it's astonishing 4th consecutive Gold Medal who will be the new idiots and are there any suckers left?

9, I highly reccommend some relaxation time. Step back from soccer for a few moments, take a deep breath, and let the anger go.

I find the best therapy for me is to go coach my youngest DD's soccer team, nothing like coaching a U-7 girls game to blunt the edge of your competitive drive.

Or you could try herding cats, it amounts to about the same thing!

Hey Brat... I hope you are not saying that the director set it up so WPFC got an easier bracket. He might have something to say about that.

Ummm where in the heck did I say that? Talk about taking out of context.
Yeah I said they way they were set up, as in Final bracketing, not set up as in WP wins.
Sorry if I blundered my thoughts on here. I meant NO disrepect to WP as a team or Club

Maybe I have my "rosiegirl" glasses on, but I have a totally different perspective on tournaments than you. I have been on the boards of two separate tournaments, and in one I helped to plan brackets (this was not the RC)

At least for our group, one of the main considerations was creating competitive brackets for teams that traveled to us.  One of the most dissapointing experiences that one of DD's team had was to travel up north, pay for hotels, and end up with 3 games where we killed the other teams. We played 2 play-up teams, one which was the second team for the club. We were the A team for our club.  Yes, we made it into the finals, but what a waste for everyone.

I would be stupid to believe that everyone goes to tournaments just to find good competition, but I KNOW that there are a number of coaches and parents who choose tournaments so that they will get good competition not hoping for a "cream puff" bracket so they can take home some $2.00 medal.

When I had two daughters at FC Royals, I did work on the RC board, and I can say that in addition to competition, another consideration was trying to create cross-ups between teams that don't play each other much (ie--Oregon teams with Northern Washington teams).

I do not have a U13 child boy or girl playing soccer, so I can't speak with authority on this particular tournament for this year, but the most revealing thing in this entire post to me is the mindset revealed towards winning and playing:

People see what they perceive is an easy bracket and think, "Oh, they did it so they could win."

OR

People see what they perceive is an easy bracket and think, "Excellent, the home team got crummy games; we got the the good compeition."

Depending on your first reaction also reveals a lot about us.
