Poor, poor, poor 9.  DK's team didn't make it out of bracket again because they just aren't good enough.  So he has to cry, cry, cry like a little baby for 2 days straight now.  Big Bad WPFC isn't FAIR!!!  Boo-Hoo.

That's OK little guy... if I make you a big batch of cookies and a nice bottle of milk will that make you feel better?

That should do it.

Same for me.  Are the cookies right out of the oven?  :P

Warm and chewy with the chocolate chips or butterscotch chips melting onto your fingers.  Really cold milk too.

Right on.....Hot out of the oven with lots of melted Chocolate Chips!!!! Milk of course!

I guess the question is are you going to the tournament for the hardware or the exposure to good competition? We've won the cupcake tournament and in hindsight wished we didn't go and we've traveled to Cal and come home with 1 win and 3 loss and felt good about the trip...give me the tough bracket everytime...9, we got a box of old medals we can send ya if that's what your after...

Or, you could go to a tournament looking for a fair shot at playing good competition.  Where the best team (that weekend) wins or finals or even finishes behind a team that was obviosly just better.

Win or lose, if its fair-it's a good tournament.

I would agree the teams in Fight C probably should not have been put in the Samba grouping, and probably the same holds for a few other teams as well.  But, enough of the bracket talk - just give the WPFC kids some credit for beating the talented state champs and an impressive Timbers team.

Don't be so touchy.  You knew the tournament was in the bag before it ever began.  That's what? Your team's third Gold Medal at RC?

Wow your team is soooo good.
How come you never win state.  Oh that's right, WPFC doesn't put the state tournament together.

Having been associated with tournament planning for the past 4 years, let me just say that there is more to the bracket planning then most people get to see.  Behind the scenes, you have DOC's talking to each other saying that if you come to my tournament, we'll send some to yours.  WPFC offered a multiple team rebate ($25 off...so that is just $400 versus $775 at Crossfire) and in some years the rebate was paid straight to clubs and not the teams.  With that, you have DOC calling saying that they will bring X amount of teams but they don't want to see the same teams in their brackets...and they have the pull to do that when you bring say 10 teams.  This year there were more Crossfire teams at RC and you'll see some WPFC teams that their July tournament.  If you need say just one team to make a bracket work, that team you are seeking has some leverage and can ask to play at a certain level or against a certain team.  If you can accommodate them...you do and if you can't you lower the entry fee.  You have some teams that specifically say we'll come if we are assured that we play the State Champs or a top team from out of state that is attending.  How do you think Crush got to play against Crossfire at Viking Cup 2 years in a row...I'm sure it wasn't just fate.  It was probably something like, "we'll come if you bracket us with the State Champs".  Some DOC's say that they see these teams in PDL Spring and Fall so they don't want to play them again in bracket play.  Then you have some that say that they only want to play at a higher or lower level if you have more than one division at an age group.  While you have some teams that ask to play the host team. So what ends up happening, you accommodate your guests and then enter the games into the software and let the games begin.

Sorry Spamo.....this isn't about hardware ....this is about fair bracketing first and foremost.
Exposure is great but there has to be a fair balance to that as well.

It was not just adults commenting on the bracketing, the kids have been playing long enough and are savvy ....they knew coming out to play in this tournament that they had been shot in the foot before stepping on the field to play.  But play they did, there was great soccer going on everywhere and to those teams that came,
gave it their all knowing the powers that be set things up that limited their opportunities....I cheer for everyone one of those teams as they are the TRUE CHAMPIONS!

WSA...glad you mentioned getting pm's about this, I was also bombarded with pm's from those who felt the road to the final
for WPFC Black was more than   OBVIOUS.  And a couple of the pm's mentioned they were playing this season at other tournaments rather that the Rainier Challenge.

WPFC Black  is a talented team and no one is going after these kids....they certainly are one of the top 10 teams in state....  The reality is a couple of you want us all to go away and pretend that this situation didn't happen "AGAIN" this year and that WPFC SH#@ don't stink.

Comments have been made about how hard
the WPFC Black team has worked etc.....blah, blah, blah....there is no question about that but all the other teams have worked just as hard and the injustice they were served by your club was wrong.

Sorry for thinking we should hold WPFC Club to a higher standard.....clearly you don't want us to RESPECT what could
be a Prestigious tournament.

Well that makes sense.  WPFC did bring at least 10 teams and the DOC has been known to talk to himself (from time to time) so he probably made it a condition that WPFC 95 would only play the state champs if he could set the bracket up so the state champs were weighed down as much as possible in bracket play.

I don't think we were wondering HOW WPFC did what they did.  The complaint was that the DOC didn't restrain himself to give WPFC at least a little compeditive play during bracket play.  What a different tournament this would have been if WPFC simply traded places with MRFC.

But then only one team advanced out of that bracket.

Agreed.  I should have simply said third medal.  But if I did that then my whole point would be moot.  People would see that my comments about your club have no merit.  That WPFC was simply lucky...nothing more.

But then again the fact that you relish in your setup victory speeks louder than anything negative that I could type.

No reason we can't have a bucket of both.  Make sure there's lots of butter.

Is all this negative stuff because Gotsoccer closed down?  :?

All this negative stuff is so sad.   I wont let my daughter read this.   This would upset her.

It really sucks because she played very well.  Won and then found out Tonya Harding put the schedule together.

You know 9, you have a right to your own opinion and I am sure that some of your opinion is warranted.  I used to believe the same thing when we played RC about 6 years ago (we were state champs then), the next year we didn't go.  BUT MA's child has no basis to be involved in this conversation, even as a flippant remark.  She could care less who she played, her effort and success on the field wasn't dependant on who she played and she would give the same effort if she was playing any team I am sure.  You just crossed the line in my opinion.

Here's another point, it wasn't about MA's daughter.  Lighten up would ya.  It was a game and there will be many more games down the road.  Don't go to the tourney next year and if your team goes, go camping with the family.  You don't have to be a miserable jerk all of the time do ya?
