U11-U15 power clubs
« on: July 30, 2008, 02:07:25 PM »

Alright well I decided to see who the power clubs are on the girls side. I used the latest polls i could find for u11-15 and was curious which clubs had a team on each top 20. there was only 9 clubs with a team on every one of them. then i averaged out their places to come up with their average ranking.

1. Crossfire 2.6
2. NWN 4.8
3. Eastside 5
4. Reign 7
5. Timbers 7.2
6. Westsound 7.8
7. WPFC 8.6
7. Snohomish 8.6
9. ECFC 13.8

Do be mad at me if your club didn't make the list, it just meant they were off one of the top 20's.

I think your list of 'power' clubs might be a bit different if you extended it through GU-18s. For example, Eastside FC, Reign and Timbers do not have GU-18s teams! Meanwhile, Evergreen, which is not on your list (probably just narrowly outside of it) has a P-1 AND P-3 team at both GU-17 and GU-18. Pretty sure that Evergreen and Crossfire are the only clubs in those age groups fielding multiple Premier League teams. That is certainly an indication of depth, if not 'power.'

SC, that's so pre-PDL !

Islander...true, however, Black Knight's GU11-GU-15 list is based on an average of polls, which are essentialy (more or less) educated guesses. With the GU16-18s, we actually have a Premier League where teams earned and had to hold their positions based on the results of qualifying tournaments and league standings. My point is merely that GU16-18 Premier League status also is an indication of power. If PDL clubs like Crossfire and Evergreen have multiple teams among the top 24 at GU-17 and GU-18, seems like that indicates some sort of depth, or power, or whatever you want to call it.

Or it could mean that Evergreen is losing their power at the younger ages, which is not a good sign for the future. Once those teams are gone, who will support you to stay at the PDL level?

Having said that, i find myself responding to a post that really means little IMO. This is kids soccer for crying out loud

Extreme...I agree with you regarding the silliness of the exercise. And also remember that the poll was based on girls teams only. The PDL includes boys and girls teams. So it all kind of balances out in the wash, I think.

I know BK was just generating some chat, but  to me the strength of a club is its older teams in many ways, especially clubs such as these which offer the kids the dream of college soccer and high level play opportunities. When clubs collapse at the top, it is not a mark of strength.

For me, in terms of that, the top two clubs in the state are Crossfire and WPFC--as their academy teams demonstrate. Close to that are NWN, ECFC, and EFC in no particular order. Cross girls and WPFC girls all have P1 teams at u18, U17, and U16 same with ECFC. WPFC and Cross also field U16 and U18 academy teams for boys (P1 before they went over to academy)  It is kids soccer at the younger ages, but for some of these kids at U17, they don't see it just as a past time. I have one who got through college debt free on a college scholarship for soccer. More than kids stuff :D

Shelby, neither ECFC nor EFC have P-1 teams at GU-18. ECFC is P-2 and Eastside has no team at GU-18. Doesn't mean they're not power clubs, though.
