Dos 94 Coach looking for a coaching position
« on: January 29, 2006, 07:11:37 PM »

The Dos 94 coach has not been asked to return next year.  :o  :?:  is looking for a u12 or u11 position. Any clubs out there looking for an experienced head coach?

Sherri is an awesome coach and an awesome person.  She did a great job with our girls and most of us are scratching our heads in confusion.  We will miss her greatly.

I've seen many strange changes in soccer, and many changes needed that are never made.

Scratching your head and youth soccer seem to go hand and hand.

Sounds like the coach will be greatly missed and that in itself may be comforting to the coach.    Not a fix all, but it's nice to know you're loved.

Best of luck to Sheri.  I so the DOS girls play thier very first freindlies against EFC and Norpoint.  I've been following them ever since, as well as the Americans.  DOS is definitly one of the most improved team this year.  Hard for me to understand this move.

Good luck Coach ;)   How about moving on up to a D1 team  ;)  ;)

Seen many coaching changes in the past....some good, some bad.  Never did understand the politics on it

Sounds like she made quite the impression on the girls.....can't beat that  ;)

My little girl has played many teams throughout her days... I don't know this coach personally but there are not alot of games played where my little girl did not come back and say some parent and/or coach was talking trash about her or our team.  Big Kudos!  Just when I think good sportsmanship is lost :)

Best of luck finding a spot!

So if coaches are being asked not to return, and DDs are being written off rosters w/o a blink, then its very likely that some DDs will not make some teams.  Is the competition really that stiff, or is it just that political?  I mean, I know this is called competitive soccer, but where and at what age should you draw the line?

It is all an opinion of each club, each team and each family where the line is on competitive soccer and that is why you have movement.

A friend of mine is a coach in this age group and he has said that if he was with Dos he would have been gone by September because they were struggling to stay in games and especially win them.

Now they are in the QF of the Commissioners' Cup.  Some clubs will not accept there teams playing in the lower cups regardless of if the team needs to have some success.  What does that do for the girls?

Isn't the job of the coach to promote the development of the players?

I think that some parents also change the team of their DD just because there are not enough wins.  What are we saying to our kids when we do this?

Some will say "we are doing what is best for our child" and that is the excuse they give.

Why not stay where you are and build something?  The reward is much bigger when that happens because you have been through all the tough times.

Yes sir!! ma'am?!!!  Especially at U-11 its all about player developement.  W/L should definiely take a back seat.  :D

I agree up until State Cup.  This is where the kids put it all together and try to win it all. :P
U12 it starts all over again......learn those skills, develop as a team, learn tactics and more skills.  Finally learn some skills.  Development is up through U13 and sometime even longer :)

With my DD and her team this year, they were very much a developmental team with a strong coach. They  will start over again next year and see how much of an improvement they make. Seeing their  W/L record over the course of the season, it is a certainty that the girls improved. At first they lost by 7-8 to zip, by the end, it was 1-2 to nuttin'  or even a win!
U-11 and U-12 developemental years? You bet! After that, the girls seem to like the wins and play harder to get it.

Sometimes a coach needs to go but not this one.
Sad but true about the politics at such a young age.

Sheri is a great coach and I hear she has some offers already. My dd loved her and we wish her the best.
