Lynn Johnston's Drawn-Out Adieu to Cartooning
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:14:40 PM »

For Better Or Worse  is ending. Who is Lynn?? What is FBOW?? Lynn is one of my favorite story tellers. She is more
than a cartoonist to me; She is part of my family. I  have read her strip every day for the last 15 years. She means more to me than Frank Miller, Mike Allred, Mike Magolia (sp), Stan Sakai. etc. I am a comic book nerd. Also she is equal to Charles Schultz, Bill Waterson,  Walt Kelly, etc, in my opinion. She has changed how newspaper comics are drawn and written. How???? By creating a medium that has grown with the years. Some of her  characters have grown up from children to adults, while other have battled death and aging. FBOW is  a glimpse of everyday life, told through Lynn's len. And yes her strip is @ times- safe and vanilla, but I enjoy reading it everyday like I love reading Curtis and Jumpstart. and The Boondocks ( no longer in newspaper existence). It will be weird not to see a new strip from Lynn anymore. Lynn and FBOW, I will miss you. It has been a great 15 years together.

Lynn says it is time for the strip to end; however, she is redoing previous strips with I'm guessing new dialogue and new art. I hope the Seattle Times will still keep her strip via newspaper or internet.
Lynn rocks!!!
