Well, it's been fun. Obviously, there is no interest in issues here. And seeing now that the source of much of the attacks being posted here are originating with the anti-American MoveOn.org, I suppose there is no chance for any sort of exchange. The idea of using WPS-Soccer, even just one political thread, for discussion on politics was a risky thing to begin with. But now I have to face the reality that this WPS-Soccer forum is being used to distribute propaganda from a despicable organization like MoveOn.org. I'm now faced with the hard choice whether I can continue to participate at all in a forum that is being used, perhaps indirectly, by MoveOn.org to spread its lies and anti-American propaganda. I'm afraid that I have no choice but to leave this forum, both the political and soccer sides, to demonstrate my total opposition to MoveOn.org and its tactics of deception, distortion, and unfounded attacks, such as those made against General David Petraeus days before he first testified before Congress on the status of his Iraq strategy.

My sidekick and I both have enjoyed participating in this forum, right up until its use as a political weapon by MoveOn.org. If the day should come when the founders of this site acknowledge the misguided attempts to use this forum in this way, I will return. No one will likely miss me, but I will miss most, if not all of you. Please note that I leave with no hard feelings, but with a great sympathy for those that refuse to consider issues in this important election. I tried to raise some of these issues, within the constant barrage of anti-McCain postings, and I hope some of you found them entertaining, if not informative.

I have to agree with Handball and Cheese - this forum is a soccer forum even though there are other topics. This is not a place where I want to be inundated with PROPAGANDA of any kind. We get this in so many other areas in our lives. Soccer is kind of a release from that. It has been very disappointing that people have chosen to use what has been a great soccer forum to spread MISINFORMATION and meritless RIDICULE.

I go into my unread messages and when I receive 10 to 1 political messages it is maybe time to look for another source for soccer information. Maybe a poll should be started to see how the membership feels (would be the democratic way - right) - maybe there are a lot of viewers of this site who feel this is an appropriate site for mostly one sided political messages.

it's pretty simple for me to seperate politics, soccer, and the folks here on wps. most of us have kids and opinions........I don't dislike any of them!

Actually I wouldn't know how to go about doing a poll on the website but should probably be kept in the same site as the messages.

Why it just like reading the newspaper and listening to the news...propaganda..everywhere...

pretty good list. that said, I think given the intensity of the statement of disapproval, to the point of not coming to wps any longer because of it, in fairness, concern and respect that stronger wording be used.

1. Completely unacceptable
2. Strongly disapprove
3. Disapprove
4. Somewhat disapprove
5. Somewhat acceptable
6. Acceptable
7. Strongly approve
8. Completely Acceptable

oh wait, I just remembered where I heard these terms..........political polling phone call lol.
I like yours, they have more flare. Maybe more choices would be all that's needed, to indicate strength of feeling on the subject...I'd probably go with my #5 and your #1 with a mild nod to #4

Wouldn't it be great if candidates (and their supporters) just ran a positive campaign? Tell us what you stand for. Tell us what you don't. But, don't slam the other candidate.
What if we started a grass-roots movement which kept track of the positive and negative ads, comments etc. from a candidate. 1 point for positive and -5 for negative. Then, the candidate with the highest 'positive' score gets your vote (if they end up negative - one does not vote).
I am SO tired of hearing all the negative stuff out there.
