The two rosters combine for at or a little more than 40 players p/age group. Agree w/notion that coaches of the remaining players can't rely on talent to carry the day. Same holds true for ECNL coaches/players. Parity can be a good thing if it's embraced.  Otherwise, it has the appearance of mediocrity even at "higher" levels.  Think of the matches we've all witnessed between closely matched teams with little sustained posession and one 50/50 ball after another. Yuck.

Word?  How about "Nagales"! Too bad Lenhart wasn't part of the beating.  Can't have everything I suppose.

3
PacNW and NWN must win to advance and PacNW will advance with a win while NWN must claim 9 pts to be certain of advancing. EFC W and Xfire would be out under that scenario.EFC W is in if either draw or lose and Xfire is out if either win.

Nah, there were shouts in the other box as well. Bayern were quick to close down and slow to pull out of a challenge all over the pitch. Intimidation?  You have made your thoughts on Barcelona's "style" and "marketing" clear so, you don't reallyneed to add further comment.

Full disclosure - Barcelona fan in the extreme.  Bayern were clearly better. on Tuesday.  2 - 0 not. 4 - 0 better.  The no calls wrecked the game and the tie.  5th official is a waste of $ and space.  WTF is the point if the idiot 5 yards away won't call the pick on Alba?  If the tie is done, Robben should. get some "love" for his bs. Unfortunately, Barca doesn't have an enforcer.

6
Remember there are 2 Wild cards in Champ cup and 4 in the Challenge Cup... A team could have less than ten to move on... It will all depend on how everyone finishes... lets just use this as an EXAMPLE Champ...  If PAC, NWN, Harbor, Crossfire Tie or lose,  there will be a team with less than ten points moving on in the WC..

You have said previously certain teams were "...on the verge of elimination".  My point was going into the final game of group play, any team w/ten or fewer points might get eliminated based on all of the possibilities.

P.S. - Your example needs revising.  Crossfire won 4 - 0. :drinks:

7
Any team in Champ Cup w/10 points or less is on the verge of elimination.

8
3 points today - finally.  It wasn't decisive or convincing but, it was a win.  Zak needs to be better.

9
Zak doesn't look like he believes he can do the business. The problem today wasn't so much creating chances as taking them.  Sigi said as much. I still think better movement of the ball would create better chances/easier finishing opportunities but, it seems the team lacks a sense of belief.  How come Sigi?

10
So the job of a coach/teacher is to stand back and watch?  Have you not experienced a coach/teacher that encouraged/pushed/guided you to achieve every bit of your potential when you would have settled for something less?  If not, I feel bad for you.

11
Was EJ's late arrival to the start of the 2nd half for treatment of his sore toe or a thumbing of his nose to something Sigi said at halftime?  EJ's workrate for club and country isn't what it should be.  That said, anybody else struck by the incongruity of a coach in Sigi's condition calling his players out for not working hard enough?  "Do as I say...". Whether the players have lost faith in leadership for failed tactics already, I can't say.  When a friend was lamenting the teams lack of options at ACM(personnel), my comment was Adrian could sign Xavi and Sigi would tell him to lump it foward.  Maybe that's unfair but, it does seem like the players we have are capable of more than we're seeing.  I'd be the first to say (again) we need a playmaker but, it looks like the problems run deeper or bigger as the case may be.

12
And you are filled with anticipation for a midfield of Alonso/Martinez, Zak, Rosales, and Joseph?  I hope they'll be better than what we've seen so far. Never really thought of Joseph as a playmaker though.

13
If we're "loaded" with midfielders that can create quality chances for the level, they arren't being paired or directed well because the early returns are poor.  Maybe your project would bear fruit.  However, Martinez plays wide for Honduras.  I think the club owes the fans a playmaker that raises the bar.  Guess I'm in the minority.
Tifferts was supposed to be that guy.
Now who is?  It's not Rose.  He works hard and all but, he's not the creative force to get our forwards more chances.  Then again, personnel is part of it and the other is better directing the movement off the ball SIGI.  How about the 3rd man isn't always running for 30+ yard airballs.  I know everybody loves Keller but, he's asking the Sounders to throw more balls in the box when, they're not creating any separation for the players in the box to finish :shutit.  And stop describing every situation as an "occasion" :shutit.

They should have walked at halftime (CR) if they didn't want the match to stand.

On or about the 55th minute, the referee stopped play and gave both sides an opportunity to say the conditions weren't fit/safe to continue.  Both sides opted to keep playing.  The end.

Connected team play back to front, front to back, attacking, defending.  That's the blueprint.  Few do what it takes mentally and physically to execute.  I'm not sure that most players we produce domestically are trained to know what that looks like.

With Iniesta as his acm partner which made the engine go.I agree w/Metz about the pace/effort being collectively raised.  I'm sure that's about the high paid mercenaries protcting future value right TP?  These guys aren't really motivated by any sense of commitment to each other and the shirt.  That's all marketing bs for us morons to lap up.

17
Ozil and Oscar are beyond MLS and are not realistic.  Madrid do have a 3rd ACM that the Galaxy were said to be pursuing.  Why not Seattle rather than LA for Ricky?  I actually don't care that it be a big name signing.  I'd be happy w/a version of Mauro 6 years younger that could hold up for a full season of abuse in the middle.

That's the problem.

Anyone see the EFC White vs.Spokane match on Saturday?  How many players finished on the field for each side?  What behaviors produced the cards?

21
Who's gonna get him the ball?  I would rather have seen the $ spent on a playmaking center mid.  Zak could pick up most of Montero's goal tally if we could create more quality chances.  Give the people what they want I guess.  Another fast player to run at the goal.  TP will be happy.

No doubt there are a lot more paid coaches today than a gneration or even 10 years ago.  That said, how many of those coaches even with 3 or 4 teams make as much $ as the.parents paying them?  So, if the coach is capable of doing a better paying job but, has chosen coaching, maybe the love is the reason? Could you support your family and put your kids through school on a coach's salary?

Tello is right footed. Play him on the left, Villa central, and Messi on the right coming out to in with Villa making in to out runs.

Or worthless, you decide.  I guess the barcabots are so brainwashed they don't realize they are being deprived of their creative expression because they keep signing contract extensions.  How many games did the Yankees lose last year?  When did they last win the World Series?  TP, the Barcelona players are the highest paid players in the world because of the success they have achieved by executing the plan they were chosen/trained for.  They are unwavering in their commitment to the system. They're all in.  Ever experienced that?

Those clueless coaches have guided those players to more success over the past 4 seasons than any other club in the world.  Del Bosque's Spain side employ essentiually identical tactics.  If your assertion is that they would be the "bestest" if they could get proper direction then fine, you can have that academic argument with your clone.

Barcelona playing against itself would be a very high scoring game not a 0-0 tie. The barca defense makes plenty of mistakes for the barca offense to exploit.

Barca's defense gets caught out and concedes goals because their start position is generally in the attacking half. :drinks:

...the non traveling top level teams ...

Non traveling teams @ EFC?  Here's a link to the 96' girls schedule - http://eastsidefc96red.weebly.com/calendar.html

San Diego, Portland, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and New Jersey.  Strom's 94' boys I'm sure travelled every bit as much if not more.

Strom's 94' boys participate in USYSA National league in addition to the tournaments they travel to.

I don't see a lot of distinction between the travel requirements of teams participating in ECNL/Academy and what EFC (and others) are doing with their 1st teams.

I love watching Barca play, I haven't enjoyed watching a barcelona game in quite some time. I find it incredibly boring to watch teams sit back, put 10 behind the ball, cede posession to Barca and wait for one or 2 counters per game.

Your blame is misplaced. Barcelona's strategy is to complete 4-yard passes for 90 minutes and wait for the defense to make errors. It works, but it is robotic, tedious and ugly. It is not the sport that God intended.

Next time God is sharing his ideas with you on how the beautiful game was meant to be played, ask him how he feels about the tone you take with people when you share your opinions here ;D
