World News - Events - Politics -Rated Scary- / Re: Obama wins a second term
« on: November 28, 2012, 02:40:44 PM »
It took me a while to understand why Obama won a second term, and what it is going to mean.
(I have also been intensely busy with work, seminars, and a charity event I was shanghaied into).  My apologies for not posting earlier.

Obama and his team used a 1-2-3 strategy to win the election.
1.  - Make the election the nastiest, most divisive campaign in living memory.  Use a billion dollars in negative campaign ads and count on the quality of NEA union taught American people to be manipulated into not voting for his opponent.

2 A-  Divide the American people into groups.   Vote for "Revenge" against the White Man.  Women against men, blacks against whites, welfare recipients against working people, hispanics against whites, those looking for a hand out versus those that produce wealth.   The democrats button pushing "polls" and calling worked explicitly for that.

2 B - Use and coordinate with the main stream media to demonize Romney and the Republicans while hiding problems from the leftists.   Hiding the lies and incompetence of Benghazi, Fast & Furious, etc. etc. etc.

3A - Reap the rewards of buying votes and voting blocks.   Tens of billions of federal dollars to the unions in the failed auto bail out  (failed as in the two auto companies ended up adopting the Romney plan of a structured bankruptcy anyway).   Partial amnesty for illegals.   Suppression of efforts to keep voting restricted to those legally entitled to the franchise.

3B -   Defering the costs and effects of the worst of the Obama policies until after the election - many of which we are seeing come public now.   Many if not most of these things were known to be coming, but the media refused to bring them to light.

3C -  The unrelenting use of "The Race Card" and "The Sex Card" through out the campaign, with the media in full compliance.   We are seeing that continue today with any criticism of Susan Rice or the Attorney General being labelled sexist and racist.

In short, Obama deliberately tried to render the fabric of American society in order to achieve his goal of reelection.   His entire campaign was to divide the American people against one another.  In my eyes, that makes him illegitimate both as an American and as the President.

More later.   But apparently Obama never read up on the French revolution and figured out where their leaders ended up......
::)  Wow.....just....wow....

Many of us are intensely interested in the election, and some of us figure that it really does not matter to them all that much.   So be it.   One of the great things about America has always been that we are a nation of laws, under a constitution.   Everyone has their say, campaigns are hard fought, and then either a new set of politicians come in to be corrupted by the system, or the old crooks stay in power.
It's better than guns in the streets.

I may not agree with your positions EW, but I do find your articles interesting and your thought process logical.

World News - Events - Politics -Rated Scary- / Re: Politicizing Sandy
« on: November 02, 2012, 12:43:49 PM »
NJ is my home state, the Jersey Shore to be precise.  My friends and family all live there.  Most are doing well, many have lost everything, and most have no power going on 3 days. None that I know are blaming anyone, but I do see it slowly becoming political.  How a storm can be political is beyond my understanding, but it is.  It was good to see the bromance develop between President Obama and Governor Christie because I think the only way to move this country forward is to begin to work together.

I'm constantly checking my Facebook account because I get real conditions from my friends and family back home.  How long it takes to get gas, whether power is being restored, neighbors helping or not helping each other.  Most of it is positive.  The hard part is watching my friends and families suffer, and seeing the pictures and memories of my childhood destroyed.  I know what they are going through as I have been through Hurricane Ike in Houston in 2008, another devastating storm.

Politicizing the storm irks me.  Running the marathon irks me because the wound is still very fresh for most NY'ers.  That is what I'm reading.  Just my $.02

Hey EW,

I wasn't necessarily saying I didn't like the idea of no political parties in the future, it just never occured to me.  I was always in favor of a viable 3rd party for people who don't really identify with the R's or the D's.  Right now with the 2 party system, you are either one or the the other and that's not true.

I do like your breakdown of the 5 parties even then I look at myself and say....well, I don't totally fit into my category 100%.  I'm a Democrat, definitely a social liberal, the other categories I may not be totally liberal.

And thanks for posting the news that you read in the other thread.  I like to read different news sources and I don't get my news from cable news...to many opinions and not enough reporting.  But I will watch a cable news show for entertainment.   :drinks:

Hey EWSoccer64,

I don't normally come over to the political side of the forum but the title of the post caught my eye.  Political thinking outside of the box.  Excellent.  I've always subscribed to the belief the most people need a lesson in civics and the workings of the government.  I've also always believed in the saying "United We Stand, Divided We Fall," and right now we are a nation divided and we will fall if we don't get our act together.

Interesting thought to get rid of the parties...I was always for a viable and equally powerful 3rd party, but I can get behind getting rid of the parties.  What I'd most like to get rid of are the labels.  Liberal, Conservative, lefty, right...etc.  They do us no good, they only serve to divide.

One of the cornerstones in a democracy is our right to vote, so I'm not sure I can get behind literacy tests in order to vote.

I believe the electoral college is outdated, and doesn't serve us well.  If you are a Republican in a blue state, your vote only means something in your local elections and vice versa for a Democrat in a red state.

If a wealthy person was forced to give up their wealth to run in elections, we sure as heck wouldn't have wealthy individuals running for office and politics may not be as corrupt as they are.  +1 for that.

In my humble opinion, we've lost all respect for one another simply because we differ on ways to accomplish things or what we believe is right or wrong.  It's sad really.  I see it on my FB page all day long.  Liberals are this, conservatives are that.  I unfortunately see no end in sight, so I just shake my head and try and stay true to my beliefs without disrespecting others.  My beliefs are mine and they are personal, and I expect no one to believe as I do.

Good thread title though, got me to read it!

We are definitely keeping "R" in our thoughts and prayers.  DD is very concerned since hearing the news.  This is our first year with the team but DD is very fond of him and absolutely loves playing for him, after a difficult first year back in WA playing soccer.  We wish him a speedy recovery.

I would like to ask that you keep 'R' in your prayers that his doctors find out what is causing his crisis and he is up and back to coaching soon.
I know he misses his girls and they miss him being there.
Get better soon!!

Congratulations,  DD must be very exceptional!  ;D

We have friend who registered both their DD and DS but decided against the DD trying out this year.  The DS got a rejection letter and the DD got and acceptance letter  ???.  Go figure.

« on: September 05, 2012, 02:33:46 PM »
Crock, it's awesome you were able to put this together.  I told DD that someone actually put this together and she was like "Wow, somebody did this!"  Then her next question was...."where are we ranked 50th?"  Needless to say she was excited about being in the top 20... :drinks:

10
They merged the teams.  Both the teams played in the WA Rush Cup.  PacNW A lost to Rush in the Championship game, and PacNW B was 0-3, although 2 of their losses were by only one goal.  My impression:  the A team is a bit stronger than the old Dos, but the B team is a bit weaker than the old GRFC.

If that's the case, why wouldn't they ask to be put in the B division to be better placed for competition?

11
You obviously haven't been reading this newsgroup enough. They can't be good unless they're losing.

Oh no Tripleplay, I've been following the conversation....I'm just not touching that one!

Can't speak to any of those teams on the top 10 RCL_Fan because we haven't seen and won't be playing any of them.  I do look forward to watching some of those girls play soon though!  Thanks for putting that out there!

12
#7 is a fantastic player, but when you watch the Timbers, watch the movement away from the ball.  They are extremely disciplined about where to go so that they can recieve the ball with space 3 passes after gaining possession.  They are simply playing the game at a higher level than many teams at this age.  That plus their touch, athleticism, and aggression, made them a pleasure to watch even when they were beating my DDs team at Clash at the Border.

So....what you are saying is that they are just better technically and tactically.  In a nutshell, they are just better soccer players.   ;D

13
I noticed the Timbers beat up on Tynecastle pretty good.

14
Tha Big Cheese,

I watched the first ten or so minutes of the Crossfire 99A-VUSA Timbers 99 Red game last Sunday in Portland. Crossfire 99A scored first within the game's first six minutes to take a 1-0 lead. Within the next four minutes, the speedy striker (#7) for the Timbers had converted two breakaway goals for a 2-1 lead that concluded the scoring for the game.

The Timbers striker is a match-up nightmare (great speed with good size) for most of the best G99 teams within the RCL First Division. She appears to be healthy again and remains one of the primary reasons why the Timbers are one of the best U-13 teams in the Pacific Northwest.

Hey RCL_Fan,

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure I know who she is.  We haven't seen her in a couple of years, but my DD once played with her.

15
The gap between the RCL and the PSPL appears to have grown over the last year.  Last year, Issaquah was much more competitive in the NWCL than the first weekend this year, and Tynecastle (who wasn't in the NWCL last year) appears to be the weakest team of the NWCL.

Not really relevant to your post, just an observation.  Good luck to your daughter this year.

Thanks SheplaysIdrive.

DD is anxious to get this season underway.  We have not seen any of the teams at this level and she's asked me what makes teams like the Timbers-Red so good.  We will go watch the Timbers when they come up to play PACNW Maroon in week 2 provided that we don't have a conflict with our week 2 game.  She wants to see some old friends, plus what separates them from teams she's seen so far this year.

16
Was interested to see how Issaquah and Tynecastle stood up to the competition as DD is in the same division this fall.  It's her first year and we aren't familiar with any of the teams and we get Tynecastle in our second week.  Doesn't look like they fared to well in the first weekend of play.  Issaquah seemed to do ok, not great, but not to bad.

17
Interesting to see 2 PacNW teams in the top of the U13 division.  When they merged did they keep the GRFC teams separate from the DOS teams?  It looks like GRFC won D3 in the fall and Spokane Shadow won D2, did Shadow lose most of their players that's why they didn't move up and PacNW did?

18
It's amazing what riles up some people on this forum. Chickenwing was lumping Crossfire Premier and Crossfire Select into the same program. I have always been under the impression they were separate entities within LWYSA. I responded to Chickenwing's post, asking if that were indeed the case (seems like a valid question) -- and received three 'negative' karma points. Y'all crack me up.  :drinks: :drinks:

That's what you get for asking a legitimate question!   ;D

Looks like the accepted teams list is up.  In G99 where is GU13 Harray from?
RSA - South Hill

Great, thanks!

What exactly is EPD?  Does EPD = ODP?

It will all be crystal clear after reading WYS's explanation...

http://www.washingtonyouthsoccer.org/programs/elite_player_development/

Thanks LB.  I read the "About EPD" section and I guess I kind of understand.  It's ODP and then some.  I guess I don't really need to know all the ins and outs.  I was just curious...thanks!

Props to the girls and the coaches for bouncing back after the loss to win the championship! :drinks:

Interesting GU13 action at the Lake Oswego Nike Cup.  Two Washington entrants (Vancouver Timbers and CWSA Valencia) have swept aside the Oregon competition and are playing each other in the finals today.  Timbers and Valencia have combined for a 7-0 record and +17 goal differential against Oregon's finest.

Timbers win

25
So....will this team fold into the Timbers next year with the already powerful Red team?

26
Well, whoever they are, they are in the finals!  Good job!  :drinks:

27
It appears to be the Central Washington Soccer Academy team. The technical director for the CWSA program is Gerd Strom. Gerd played at the University of Washington. The link below notes that the CWSA program was founded in 2012.

Well, way to come in strong CWSA!

And I look forward to your 99G rankings RCL_Fan!

28
Who is CWSA Valencia, in the semi-finals of the Crossfire Tourny?

29
An interesting result in what is smaller tournament:

http://www.shscsoccer.com/schedules/46936797/46936888.html

Not the strongest flight, but RSA Elite beat Harbor 5-1 and then 8-0 in the final.  The website shows that RSA was formed as alliance among 5 independent clubs including and (perhaps) driven by SHSC.  While Harbor is not a top ten team, those are some pretty lopsided games.

Can't tell yet how good they are, but it will be interesting to see.  Anyone know of any other results for RSA Elite?

Are they the SH Revolution team at U13 or is that a different team.

It looks like they are in the Crossfire tournament this weekend in the Silver division.  I guess we are about to see what they have to offer.

We do not need Eastside FC to make this a successful tournament!  All we need are teams that are looking for some good competition and want a fun weekend of soccer.

Throwing punches unprovoked!
