Soccer4Change is a new non-profit based in Shoreline, WA.  Our founder Ebrima Jatta (EJ) is from The Gambia.  EJ played soccer for the Gambian National Team and later became the first professional soccer player from his village of Brufut, playing in both Finland and for the LA Blues.  EJ now coaches premier teams for Seattle United and also trains players himself.  In fact, we just held our Gambian kick-off, and as part of it, EJ distributed uniforms and cleats from our Seattle United gear drive (see Soccer4Change on Facebook for pics).

Soccer4Change's goals are to deliver soccer training (as the incentive) and educational support (the long-term goal) to underprivileged youth in The Gambia.  We aim to:  1) Increase the number of Gambian youth who complete high school, using soccer as motivation.
2) Provide soccer equipment as an incentive to stay in school.
3) Promote equity for all youth, irrespective of gender or socioeconomic standing.
4) Provide opportunities for girls to succeed in both school and soccer.
5) Develop a model of success in soccer and school that is transferable to life as a whole.

On June 10 at SODO Arena Sports in Seattle, we will have our Seattle kick-off event, and there is a skills training portion for kids ages 8-16 from 3:45 to 6:30.  EJ, our founder, and other elite players will be doing a fun training with the kids and then hanging out and chatting with them.  If interested, check out the event (Help Gambian Youth Achieve Their GOALS!) on EventBrite:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/help-gambian-youth-achieve-their-goals-tickets-34741511797.  You can also check out www.soccer4change.org or our Facebook page for more about us and the event.  We are a Section 501(c)(3) public charity.  Feel free to ask questions, and thanks for reading.  : )

Soccer4Change uses soccer as motivation to keep Gambian youth in school by providing soccer training and equipment to those who stay in school and progress academically.  We focus too on providing soccer and educational equity and opportunities for girls in The Gambia.  www.soccer4change.org
